This week, we're focusing on improving our social wellness. Having a supportive social circle is integral to a positive recovery journey.

"The Social Wellness Dimension involves having healthy relationships with friends, family, and the community, and having an interest in and concern for the needs of others and humankind."

As we enter the season of thankfulness, I am reminded that gratitude is most meaningful when it inspires us to reach outward. At Lighthouse Treatment Center, we are thankful every day for the opportunity to serve individuals who are rebuilding their lives, often in the face of extraordinary challenges. Among those challenges, homelessness remains one of the greatest barriers to recovery and stability.

This month, let us remember that thankfulness isn’t just a feeling; it’s an action. It’s choosing to see the humanity in every person who walks through our doors, to offer warmth where there is cold, understanding where there is judgment, and hope where there is despair. Whether through a kind word, a meal, or a moment of listening, each of us has the power to be a beacon of compassion in someone’s darkest hour.

From all of us at Lighthouse Treatment Centers, we are thankful to be part of a community that believes in second chances, healing, and the light of recovery that guides us all.

"The Spiritual Wellness Dimension is a broad concept that represents one’s personal beliefs and values and involves having meaning, purpose, and a sense of balance and peace. It includes recognizing our search for meaning and purpose in human existence; and developing an appreciation for life and the natural forces that exist in the universe."

"Hi, my name is Bailey Hill. I joined Lighthouse Treatment Centers in July as the Director of Business Development & Strategic Operations. I am new to the field of behavioral health and look forward to applying my skills in data analysis and community outreach within my role here at LTC.

My professional background includes internal and external communications with a focus on stakeholder engagement. I am passionate about environmental justice and community outreach. My previous research centered on the intersection of race, socioeconomic status, and proximity to environmental hazards--specifically hazards affecting water quality--within the Yadkin River Basin in North Carolina.

I currently live in my hometown of Winston Salem, NC with my partner, Ayyoub, and our two pups, Sage and Sova. In my free time, I enjoy crafting, spending time with my family and being out in my local community."

This week, we encourage you to evaluate your surroundings and think of ways in which you can improve your own environmental wellness.

"The Environmental Wellness Dimension involves being able to be safe and feel safe. This can include accessing clean air, food, and water; preserving the areas where we live, learn, and work; occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support our well-being; and promoting learning, contemplation, and relaxation in natural places and spaces."

"October is recognized as National Substance Use Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about the impact of substance misuse and highlight the power of prevention. This month, we remember those lost, support families and communities, and work to stop substance misuse before it starts.

Prevention works best when we all get involved - by talking with youth, promoting healthy alternatives, and connecting individuals to resources. Together, we can build a future free from the harms of substance abuse."

This week, we're highlighting financial wellness as facet of recovery. If you are in need of financial planning guidance, please reach out and we will connect you to a local resource.

"There are many definitions of what constitutes being financially well, but overall, the Financial Wellness Dimension involves things such as income, debt, and savings, as well as a person’s understanding of financial processes and resources. A person’s satisfaction with their current financial situation and future prospects also comes into play."
