No hardware won today, but Karah and Ryan did a great job at the KS SkillsUSA SC district Job Skills Demonstration competition, sharing their knowledge of emergency wound care and firefighters' Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. Thanks to the members of Ellinwood EMS and Great Bend Fire/EMS Department who helped them prepare.

KANSAS PIPELINE ASSOCIATION AWARDS $10,000 AWARD TO ELLINWOOD EMS FOUNDATION

November 7, 2025 – The Kansas Pipeline Association (KPA) is a group of over 40 pipeline companies and municipalities dedicated to promoting pipeline safety by collaborating with emergency responders and public officials across the state. The KPA seeks to maintain effective liaison with emergency responders and public officials to avoid pipeline emergencies, as well as to ensure a safe and coordinated response in the unlikely event of an emergency. This effort also strives to increase public awareness of the presence and purpose of pipelines in our communities while educating the public on how to recognize and react to a potential pipeline emergency.

The KPA holds over 35 meetings throughout the state each year, provided at no cost to emergency responders. The meetings are designed to equip participating agencies with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage pipeline emergencies, in the unlikely event one occurs.

Each year at the conclusion of the meetings, agencies who attend an in-person meeting, or who complete online training modules, are entered into a drawing. A randomly selected agency from each meeting is presented with a check for $1,000, which can be utilized to benefit their departments or the communities they serve. The winning agencies are then entered into a drawing for a $10,000 award.

We are pleased to announce that Ellinwood EMS Foundation has been awarded $10,000 from the KPA.

The Kansas Pipeline Association remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of Kansans!

For more information about the KPA, please visit their website at www.kpa-awareness.com.
