The Psoas: The Muscle of Survival
Meet the psoas, one of the most misunderstood and overworked muscles in the human body.
It’s deep, powerful, and directly connected to your spine, diaphragm, and pelvis. Which means it doesn’t just affect how you move… it affects how you feel.
When the psoas tightens, it can:
• Pull your spine out of alignment
• Compress organs like the liver, kidneys, and intestines
• Cause chronic low back pain, hip pain, or even digestive issues
• Keep your body stuck in a fight-or-flight state
This is why some clients feel emotional release when we work deep into the hip flexors and abdomen because the psoas holds tension, trauma, and fear.
When we release it, we’re not just freeing a muscle
we’re restoring breath, posture, and nervous system balance.
Massage therapy doesn’t stop at the surface.
It works in the places you can’t stretch or foam roll your way into.
It’s clinical. It’s emotional. It’s the bridge between body and mind.
