✨ Behind the Scenes. At the Heart of It All. ✨

At Ellsworth County Medical Center Auxiliary, so much of the magic happens quietly—through the hands and hearts of dedicated volunteers who simply show up, again and again, to make a difference. Today, we’re proud to begin spotlighting the incredible individuals who serve on the Auxiliary Board… starting with someone who embodies service in every sense of the word.

💙 Meet Jean Plett (not pictured below)

Jean’s story with the Auxiliary began over 20 years ago with a simple invitation from longtime member Ann Jones—and what followed has been decades of meaningful impact.

Her commitment to community doesn’t stop there. Jean is actively involved with the National Drovers Hall of Fame, supports youth innovation through Camp Invention, and lends her time and talents to church activities and local events.

Jean fondly recalls the early days of Auxiliary fundraising, especially the beloved Jingle Bell Shop and Sell, and the joy of coming together to support a shared purpose. Today, that same passion continues—helping meet the evolving needs of ECMC through funding equipment, supporting employee recognition, and stepping in wherever help is needed.

Looking ahead, Jean is especially excited about the development of an Auxiliary endowment fund—one that will create a lasting legacy and ensure the mission continues well beyond the current board. She’s also eager to keep learning about the specific needs of ECMC so the Auxiliary can continue to make a meaningful impact.

💙 Celebrating Our Providers – With Gratitude from the Auxiliary 💙
In keeping with tradition, our incredible Auxiliary took time to recognize the dedicated providers at ECMC who care for our community every single day.

As a small token of appreciation, the Auxiliary gifted our providers with a beautiful plant to say thank you—for the long hours, the compassionate care, and the commitment they show to each patient and family they serve.

In a small-town hospital, the impact of our providers reaches far beyond the walls of our facility. They are neighbors, leaders, and trusted partners in health—and we are so fortunate to have them here.

Many people may not realize it, but some of the tools our care teams use every day are made possible through the generosity and dedication of the ECMC Auxiliary.

One big example: Smart Acquisition EKG machines, which help our providers quickly capture and share heart rhythm data directly within the medical record.

For our patients, that means:
❤️ Faster cardiac assessments
⚡ More efficient care from our clinical teams
🏥 Better support in both clinic and emergency settings

It’s another example of how the ECMC Auxiliary quietly helps strengthen healthcare right here in our community.

What isn’t visible to the naked eye becomes clear in real time, guiding smarter treatment decisions.

💙 What a Day at ECMC! 💙

Last week, the ECMC Auxiliary hosted our Senior Wellness Event — and once again, it proved to be so much more than just another senior gathering.

From meaningful conversations to shared laughter over lunch, the room was filled with connection, learning, and community.

✔️ Guests gained clarity and confidence during an Advance Directive discussion led by Leah Womelsdorf
✔️ Learned how Home Health services can support independence and peace of mind
✔️ Got moving with a gentle Chair Exercise session
✔️ Explored how Legacy Giving can create lasting impact for family and community
✔️ And enjoyed delicious snacks and lunch together

But beyond the sessions and speakers, what truly stood out was the fellowship — neighbors visiting, caregivers connecting, and seniors empowering themselves with real information and real support.

The ECMC Auxiliary continues to make a difference in the care, comfort, and wellbeing of our community. We are so grateful for their heart, dedication, and commitment to serving Ellsworth County.

Through the ECMC Auxiliary’s Caring Covers program, cozy blankets are lovingly provided to our inpatients during their hospital stay. While it may seem simple, a warm blanket can mean the world—offering reassurance, dignity, and a tangible reminder that someone cares.

Every stitch represents the Auxiliary’s mission to support the care, comfort, and welfare of our patients and staff. Because healing isn’t just clinical—it’s personal.

💗 Neighbors Caring for Neighbors. 💗

Did you know our Hospital Auxiliary raised more than $330,000 to make our Mammography Suite a reality?

Because of their dedication and fundraising efforts, women in our community can receive life-saving breast cancer screenings right here at home.

A local mammography suite means:

✔️ Earlier detection
✔️ Faster results
✔️ Less travel to larger cities
✔️ Fewer missed workdays
✔️ More comfort in familiar surroundings
✔️ Support close to family and friends

In rural communities, access matters. When screening is convenient and local, women are far more likely to schedule it — and early detection truly saves lives.

This isn’t just advanced technology.
This is peace of mind.
This is mothers, daughters, sisters, coworkers, and friends.
This is over $330,000 invested back into the health of our own community.

The Auxiliary’s mission is "Enhancing ECMC healthcare through service and comfort" — and this project is a powerful example of that mission in action.
