Did you know we serve over 300 community members each year who are in need of medical equipment?

If you have unused medical equipment collecting dust in your home, please consider donating to Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County. If you need equipment, please stop by during our business hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm There is always someone here to help.

We have an abundance of walkers, commodes, shower chairs and more. We are in desperate need of wheelchairs. Visit our website for more information on what we can and cannot take.

Join our amazing team of volunteers! We currently have 87 volunteers, but we need more to meet the growing need for both palliative and hospice care patients. If you are a compassionate individual who enjoys helping others, we want to hear from you.

Our next training starts on October 2nd in Ellsworth. There are 4-weekly in person sessions, and the rest is online making it more convenient for you. Our greatest needs are in Ellsworth, Blue Hill, and the Bucksport areas. Visit our website to learn more and to complete an online application.

Our Dinners for a Cause fundraiser is here! These dinners benefit Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County. Hosts for these dinners open their homes, put on an amazing dinner, cater to our wonderful guests as they enjoy conversation with others.

Our first dinner at Breakwater was incredible! We still have a few spots open in two of our dinners. Barbara Clark and her book club are hosting one of these dinners, and the Crocker House County Inn on beautiful Hancock Point is hosting the other.

We are pleased to announce that our Grief Groups have been scheduled for Fall 2025, starting September 24. These groups meet weekly for 8 weeks.

Thanks to our volunteers we are able to offer groups in Ellsworth, MDI, and Blue Hill. Visit our website for more information and to preregister. Support from others is such an important piece in the healing process. We do hope you will join us.

We serve patients on all Palliative and Medical Hospice programs by adding additional volunteer support. It takes a team to support patients with serious illness and their families. We are here to serve and all our services are available at no cost to you. Volunteers cover 2-4 hours per visit.
