Rachael began doing birth work in 2012 after years of seeking a deeper purpose for her life. She completed a DONA doula training and then soon after found BirthWise Midwifery School in Maine where she completed the 3 year community program. Working for 2 years in apprenticeships in two different home birth practices in Santa Cruz
, CA, Rachael started a placenta encapsulation business on the side. Her love of this work inspired her independent research study, exploring the benefits of consuming placenta in the post partum period. She briefly worked with the Amish and Mennonite communities in a small homebirth practice in rural NY before moving to El Paso, TX to work at a high volume birth center that served Mexican families called Maternidad La Luz. Rachael got lots of great experience at this birth center and then returned to support home birth and to integrate all she had learned in the busy birth center life. She finished up her clinical requirements in Colorado and her life as an apprentice midwife. She went on to pass her NARM exam, earning her CPM in March of 2016. Several months later she returned to Salida to work as a midwife at Mountain Family Midwifery with Alli Gober. Rachael worked in this busy home birth practice supporting many families through pregnancy, birth and post partum for 2 years before moving back to the east coast to build a home on her land in Mariaville, ME. She is happily offering her services in around Ellsworth, ME. Before her life as a, Rachael studied and practiced the Healing Arts. Graduating from Mountain Heart Massage School in 2006, she began offering therapeutic massage. She continued her practice and study of body work and got her Reiki I and II as well as becoming a certified Breema practitioner, which is a form of body work that incorporates presence and awareness as a focus. In 2011, she studied at Globe institute in San Francisco, where she graduated with a certificate in Sound Healing. Rachael has continued her love of therapeutic touch work and received training for cranial sacral therapy with infants in 2018. This work is a big part of her current offerings helping new babies to integrate into their bodies after birth. Rachael spends her spare time on her forested land in Mariaville, ME with her partner and her dog, fine tuning their homestead and enjoying nature.
