Summit Pacific Medical Center to Be Featured in a National Documentary Series “All Access with Andy Garcia”

Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC) will be prominently featured in an episode of the national documentary series All Access with host Andy Garcia. The segment shines a spotlight on how SPMC is transforming healthcare delivery—and inviting the nation to rethink how care is provided in the United States.

In a healthcare environment where the U.S. spends more per person than any peer nation yet continues to lag in outcomes—shorter life expectancy, higher infant mortality, and rising chronic disease rates—a bold shift is underway. According to a 2021 study by The Commonwealth Fund, the U.S. ranked last in healthcare outcomes among developed nations. The reasons: a system built for reactive, episodic care; steep administrative burdens; and disjointed coordination among providers.

Summit Pacific Medical Center is providing a fresh answer. At the heart of its transformation is the Wellness Center, an integrated hub combining primary care, fitness, nutrition services, community education, and preventive screenings under one roof. This model shifts the emphasis from treating illness to maintaining health—showing that long-term, sustainable value is possible in rural settings.

Innovative programs at SPMC include:
• Summit Care: A team-based model for high-risk patients, offering lifestyle coaching, care coordination, and proactive intervention.
• Integration of behavioral health, low-barrier substance-use treatment, telehealth services, and youth-collaborative partnerships to address the full spectrum of health and wellness.
• Food as Medicine: Medically tailored meal kits, cooking classes, and dietitian-led coaching for patients with chronic conditions.
• A workforce development pipeline including apprenticeship and residency programs designed to bring and keep talent in rural communities.

“Our message is simple,” said Josh Martin, Summit Pacific CEO. “Healthcare should help you stay and live well – not just fix you when you’re sick or broken. When prevention, mental health, and medical care work together, people live healthier lives and communities become stronger.”

As the nation grapples with how to bend the cost curve and improve health outcomes, Summit Pacific’s model offers a blueprint. By prioritizing investment in primary care, engaging communities as active partners in health, and aligning delivery around value instead of volume, rural hospitals can not only survive – they can thrive.

The All Access with Andy Garcia episode featuring Summit Pacific is scheduled to air in the Spring of 2026, with filming taking place in early December of 2025. Congratulations to Our RIP It Award Winners!

This spring, our Urgent Care team noticed a challenge: patients waiting in exam rooms for lab or imaging results were limiting room availability and slowing triage. Thanks to staff speaking up during huddles, the Unit-Based Team (UBT) dug deeper—observing workflow, reviewing turnaround times, and gathering input from both frontline staff and providers.

Their findings showed patients could safely wait in the lobby, freeing up exam rooms and improving triage efficiency. A provider-led workflow, refined with nursing and operations, launched in May with staff training

Since implementation, the results have been clear:
✅ Better room utilization
✅ Improved patient flow
✅ Faster triage
✅ Quicker identification of higher-acuity patients

This project is a shining example of strong frontline collaboration and Summit’s commitment to continuous improvement and exceptional care.

In observance of Thanksgiving tomorrow, all primary care clinics — including the McCleary Healthcare Clinic, Summit Pacific Health Clinic, and the Summit Pacific Wellness Center — will be closed. Urgent Care will also be closed for the holiday.

If you or a loved one needs medical attention, the Emergency Department remains open 24/7. We’re here for you whenever you need us.

Regular clinic and Urgent Care hours will resume on Friday.
