To our dearest Gentle Beginnings community,

Happy new year to you all! We wanted to make you aware of some big changes that are happening in our practice. At the end of December we said goodbye to our Haddon Heights/HT office location. This is a huge loss that we all feel so deeply. We wanted to take a moment to honor our patients, current staff and past staff that made that office what it was. We are so grateful that you trusted us with your care and that we have gotten to know you like you were members of our family. Our Station Avenue office felt like home to us and hopefully you too. Our hearts are heavy because you do mean so much to us. This will be a big change but we are still here for you 🫶

With the changes in Haddon Township, we say goodbye to one of our most beloved employees. Sandy worked tirelessly for our patients and touched so many lives. We will miss her greatly. See below for a message from Sandy.

Please come and see us at our new office (798 Centerton Rd Elmer NJ) we will welcome you with open arms and big hugs! More on that space to come! We hope you know just how much you all mean to us and we hope to see you soon.

Love, The Midwives of Gentle Beginnings

From Sandy: “Hi GB family, It has been a pleasure being a part of the Gentle Beginnings team for over 9 years. I will be taking on new position this month elsewhere and am very grateful to have been on such an amazing journey with women supporting women at GB. I am so thankful to have met so many amazing people on this journey, from patients to staff to lifelong friends. From meeting Bernadette at orientation on day one, to having both my boys at Elmer with two beautiful births, to working through a pandemic with a strong group of women. I will be forever grateful to have had this opportunity. I will miss everyone so much! ❤️ Sandy”

July 11th was a very special day at Elmer hospital!! We are so happy to announce the first set of twins born at Elmer hospital in 15 years!! Happy birthday to Delilah and Autumn! 6lbs 7oz and 6lbs 15oz, and healthy as can be. Bernadette - you are so special. It was a momentous occasion! Thank you for your kind words and trusting us with your sweet girls.

“The Elmer and Gentle Beginnings crew have been nothing short of a blessing for our twins birth story. From the first consultation with Caitlin I knew that myself and my babies were going to be in exceptional care. I traditionally wanted a vbac but God had other plans. I tear up writing this because we were treated like family from the minute we walked through the door and even though I had a c-section the birth of our twins felt very special. Everyone made me us feel safe and secure and truly felt everyone had mom and babies best interests at heart.  I wish every mom, whether new or seasoned could experience the personal and loving care that my little family recieved while at Elmer. Special thanks to Waverly for being the support person i needed in my surgery and Karin for always making sure I was ok. And I thank all of the rest of the Elmer crew from the bottom of our hearts 💕”

Happy International Day of the Midwife!
Now more than ever, the world needs midwives. And as the United States struggles with a maternal mortality rate that is indefensible and rooted in racial bias, we need midwives to care for all birthing people with a listening ear, an open heart and loving touch. Tell someone today about your experience with midwifery care so everyone can know how it should be done!

Scroll through for some messages from the International Confederation of Midwives. We couldn’t agree more!

Congrats to Katelyn and her beautiful family. Thank you so much for your kind words! You did a great job, mama. We are so happy for you ❤️

“On April 14th at 12:14am we welcomed our second son, Waylon Ford Rathof. The experience that the Elmer Maternity Team and Waverly delivered to not only myself and Waylon, but our entire family was amazing and unforgettable. We delivered our first son, Dalton Thomas Rathof, with the same team including Waverly, on May 21st, 2020.

The care and delivery that the Inspira Elmer Maternity and Gentle Beginnings offers easily shows why they often rank highest in patient satisfaction and received several awards for Baby Friendly Care. Every nurse we encountered treated us with such compassion, care, and kindness. Waverly has the most gentle touch and immediately made me feel at ease with her presence. We will forever be thankful for the incredible experiences we received through Gentle Beginnings and the Elmer Maternity Team with both Dalton and Waylon.”

Thank you,
Katelyn and Reed Rathof

With big huge hearts, we welcome the newest Gentle Beginnings baby - Cyrus!! Born 3/7/23. Congrats to Caitlin and Zach. Beautiful job mama, you did it!! We are so proud 👏🌟🌕✨ A little note from Caitlin:

Pregnancy and birth in many ways was not what I expected it to be. As someone who likes to plan and as midwife, I had strong ideas about what it would look like. Of course things in pregnancy, labor and birth rarely follow our plans so while it was very different than I thought, now that our sweet Cyrus is here I can look back and see that it was exactly what it needed to be. I’m grateful how much pregnancy and birth taught me about the need to adapt and to try to surrender. While pregnancy and especially birth was intense and raw, it was deeply transformative and incredibly humbling and I’m so proud. I feel privileged to have gone through the journey that I have supported many women in and know this will make me a better midwife. I feel so grateful for the support and encouragement from all of the midwives and staff at GB and the staff at Elmer- I couldn’t have possibly asked for a better birth team or a more positive labor and birth atmosphere. I’m grateful to all the patients of GB for checking in on me through my pregnancy. But we are the most grateful for our little boy Cyrus Robert French born at 11:11pm on a full moon weighing 8lbs 6oz of pure magic.
