Recently, I needed to take a taste of my own medicine. I know some of my clients will appreciate this, having experienced my pointy elbow zeroing in on their trigger points! 😊 Around 6 weeks after Alina was born, I noticed a nagging pain in my left thumb & wrist. Like any new mom, I had more important things to worry about & mostly ignored the pain. I figured it would go away on its own. It not only got more aggravated, but I completely lost the ability to open up my thumb! (In the first photo you can see my left thumb is stuck to my palm, while the right thumb can make the ‘L.’) I saw a hand specialist, completely willing to take the shortcut with a cortisone shot so I could get back to work, but the hand specialist stopped me. He said a cortisone injection would do no good - the problem was not my thumb/wrist at all, but a musculoskeletal issue originating in my arm/shoulder/neck… now isn’t this what I tell my clients all the time??? 😅

I decided to recruit the help of my trigger point instructor. In her assessment, we found 3 muscles in my forearm & upper arm that were contributing to my limited range of motion. (The 2nd picture shows the before & after from 1 treatment of TP therapy & botanical injections directly into the TP by her on-staff physician, Dr. Hartz.) What a huge improvement! Not only does my thumb start to open up, but I don’t feel guarded anymore. Subsequent treatments should improve this further. Have you ever experienced anything that limited your range of motion like this?

Hi, I’m Nicole Yue! 👋 I’ve been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 11 years! Even as far back as in high school cross country I was known as the team massage therapist. I graduated from the Institute of Therapeutic Massage and Wellness in Davenport, IA in 2009. In the past I’ve worked in a massage franchise, at 2 salons and now I am so excited to be starting my own studio. I love the challenge of working with people to relieve their stubborn pain and prevent further injury. I use a combination of relaxing massage, deep tissue and trigger point therapy. A lot of my clients say that my touch is intuitive and is different from a lot of therapists they've seen before. I think the combination of that intuition and knowledge of the body and referred pain patterns sets me apart. 😊
I am married to an amazing man, Isaac and we have 2 beautiful kids. I’ve run in half- and full-marathons & have competed in bodybuilding. I also love cooking, baking and crafts, especially knitting and calligraphy.

Big News! EFMT is reopening in April! Nicole has been so eager to get going in 2021 and was excited to find someone who could help take the baby off of her hands a couple of days per week. These hands can't wait to be back!
