Christy Matusiak DC

Christy Matusiak DC I help patients achieve their health goals and overcome mental, physical and nutritional challenges Because I seek to correct the cause, and not its effect.

Dr. Matusiak feels that utilizing AK sets her apart from other chiropractors who will often use pain-suppressing modalities that do not entirely address the underlying cause for your symptoms. Her practice emphasizes spinal and extremity manipulation, muscle work, cranial/TMJ corrections, reflexology, meridian balancing, energy healing, nutrition, and lifestyle modification to enhance overall health. Practicing in Wilmette, IL with Integrated Holistic Healthcare, Dr. Christy Matusiak, D.C. aims to help patients return to an active and rewarding lifestyle as quickly as possible without the use of drugs or surgery. She understands that the healing process extends beyond pain relief/symptom reduction and strongly believes in educating and motivating patients to make lifestyle changes that will prevent future injury or illness. Why I am a doctor of Chiropractic

Because I honor the inborn potential of everyone to be truly healthy. Because I desire to help the newborn, the aged, and those without hope. Because I choose to care for the patient with the disease, not the disease. Because I wish to assist rather than intrude; to free rather than control. Because I know that doctors do not heal, only the body can heal itself. Because I have been called to serve others. Because I want to make a difference. Because every day I get to witness miracles. Because I know it is right.

-William Esteb

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and
prevention of disease.”

-Thomas Edison

A patient shared this with us after a recent cardiology visit 👇

Her doctor told her she was a “walking time bomb.”
He warned her about heart attacks and strokes, told her she needed drugs or drastic dietary changes, and left her feeling scared, defeated, and overwhelmed 😓

Unfortunately, this type of fear-based messaging happens far more often than it should in medicine.
Concern is valid! Doctors should absolutely address risks and help patients improve their health.

👏 But fear is not an effective treatment plan 👏

When patients leave an appointment feeling traumatized, ashamed, or hopeless, it doesn’t create healing. Chronic fear and stress actually create MORE dysfunction in the body, not less.

Your health is more complex than a number on a lab report or a number on the scale. It deserves thoughtful conversation, strategy, and support.
There is a way to talk about health that *empowers* people instead of frightening them.

Have you ever had an appointment that left you feeling worse than when you walked in?

Breast screenings matter. They save lives. Being proactive about your health is always the right move 💗

But there’s a side of the system we don’t talk about enough.
So many women go in for a routine mammogram… and what follows can be weeks, sometimes months, of waiting. Waiting for follow-ups. Waiting for ultrasounds. Waiting for biopsies. Waiting for results 🫤

All while a quiet seed of worry is planted in the back of your mind. Even if you try to stay positive, that background stress is there. And chronic stress and fear aren’t harmless. They can impact sleep, hormones, immune function, and overall health in ways we often underestimate.

Sometimes after 6–12 weeks of anxiety and uncertainty, the results come back completely normal. And then the cycle starts again the following year.
Screenings are important. Self-exams are important.
Awareness is important‼️

But we also need to acknowledge how emotionally difficult this process can be for women.

There are also other screening tools available, like thermography combined with ultrasound, that some women choose to explore as part of their proactive health approach.
Whatever path you choose, stay informed. Stay proactive. And know you don’t have to navigate these decisions alone.
If you’ve experienced this cycle of waiting and worry, you are not alone 💕

We forget to look back at how far we’ve come when we’re focused on how far we still have to go.

We overestimate what we can do in a day or a week…
and underestimate what we can do in a year.

Today was a reminder for me.
Two years ago I would’ve killed to lift what I lifted today for just a few reps. Now that same weight is my “light” set. (Nothing is ever easy though 🙃)

Consistency compounds.

Don’t quit. Keep going. It pays off! 💪

Did daylight savings knock you out this week? 😴

A one-hour time change shouldn’t derail your body for weeks.
Sometimes it doesn’t create dysfunction… it reveals it.

If you’re struggling, focus on the fundamentals:☀️ Morning sunlight😴 Consistent sleep schedule📱 Less blue light at night💧 Hydration + minerals🥩 Enough protein

Your body is incredibly adaptable when the foundations are in place.

Think of your body like a glass of water 💧

The water represents your stress load.

When the glass is already full and life keeps shaking it, (lack of sleep, poor nutrition, weather changes, emotional stress, physical strain, etc. . . .), eventually it overflows.
That’s when symptoms start showing up.

Instead of asking, “How do I stop this symptom?”Try asking, “How full is my cup right now?”

Healing often comes from lowering the overall stress load on the body.

Time to focus on ⬇️▫️ quality sleep▫️ nourishing food▫️ minerals and nutrients▫️ exercise▫️ nervous system support▫️ meditation▫️ the right supplements for your body

Everyone’s cup fills differently and everyone needs different tools to drain it.

If you feel like your cup is overflowing and want help figuring out what will make the biggest impact for you, reach out and let’s talk 💖✨

Most of our triggers don’t start in the present moment. They start in the subconscious 🧠

Your nervous system can react to something today that’s actually connected to an old emotional experience stored in the body. Before you’re even consciously aware of it, your cells and stress response are already firing.

This is where NeuroEmotional Technique (NET) comes in.NET helps identify and release stored emotional stress patterns that keep you stuck in reactive cycles, physically and emotionally.

When those subconscious connections are cleared, your body no longer has to respond as if the past is still happening. That’s when real regulation and healing can occur ✨

If you’ve ever had a reaction that felt bigger than the moment or wondered why certain things trigger you so deeply . . . there’s usually a reason.

Know someone who lives in “why did that bother me so much?” mode? 🫤

Headaches aren’t an Advil deficiency.
They’re signals.

When I look at headaches, I think in terms of the triad of health: structural, nutritional, emotional.

Neck and posture tension.
Dehydration or low minerals.
Stress, pressure, or self criticism.

Your body is usually speaking long before it starts shouting.

Instead of just silencing the symptom, get curious about the message.
Where is the pressure coming from in your life right now?

Want help figuring out what your body is trying to tell you?

Somewhere along the way we decided fun was optional. Spoiler: it’s not 😊

Fun = lower cortisol
Fun = better mood
Fun = nervous system regulation
Fun = actual medicine

When life feels heavy, busy, or stressful, fun is usually the first thing we cut and the very thing we need most.

You don’t need a vacation to feel better.
You need more moments that make you feel alive ✨

Consider this your official health recommendation:
Schedule something fun this week and don’t cancel it 😎

This is the vending machine at my son's high school. While I understand that this is a typical vending machine offering - mostly processed junk - it stuff ruffles my feathers
😑
Here's the thing -
Out of roughly 35 options, there are maybe THREE or FOUR things I would consider acceptable for my own kids. Not amazing. Not nourishing. Just acceptable 👎

Kids spend most of their day at school.
Their food environment should not be working against their focus, mood, energy, and health. We clearly had work to do!

Which 3 to 4 options I would pick that are *just ok* ❓
Drop your guesses below and let’s see who knows me best 👇😅
