A patient shared this with us after a recent cardiology visit 👇
Her doctor told her she was a “walking time bomb.”
He warned her about heart attacks and strokes, told her she needed drugs or drastic dietary changes, and left her feeling scared, defeated, and overwhelmed 😓
Unfortunately, this type of fear-based messaging happens far more often than it should in medicine.
Concern is valid! Doctors should absolutely address risks and help patients improve their health.
👏 But fear is not an effective treatment plan 👏
When patients leave an appointment feeling traumatized, ashamed, or hopeless, it doesn’t create healing. Chronic fear and stress actually create MORE dysfunction in the body, not less.
Your health is more complex than a number on a lab report or a number on the scale. It deserves thoughtful conversation, strategy, and support.
There is a way to talk about health that *empowers* people instead of frightening them.
Have you ever had an appointment that left you feeling worse than when you walked in?
