The Comfort of Pre-Planning: A Family’s Story of Love and Preparation

My mom knew Marya from a young girl to her Professional life. Mom knew when to contact her friend Marya to prepare her arrangements. Pre-planning was a gift to our family.

“My mom was very brave, and gave us such a gift” is how Kate Zable remembers her mom giving Marya all of the details of what she wanted and how she wanted her arrangements to be conducted. Mrs. Zable knew and respected Marya for many years. When she entered hospice, she asked Marya to come to her at home to prepare and finalize her wishes. Of course, Marya dropped everything and went to visit her dear friend and record every wish and detail. Mrs. Zable preplanned her entire services, leaving no detail unknown to her family. Kate remembers it this way, “We didn’t have to wonder. We knew everything Mom wanted. Marya recorded her wishes for her and for us. She made it comfortable, meeting mom in her home to make all of her own choices and remove any doubt as to what she wanted.”
