Kaelyn Rose Kaszubski, a bright and beautiful soul who graced this world with her presence on May 24, 2006, has left us far too soon. She passed away suddenly on July 4, 2024, in Portage, IN. Kaelyn was the beloved daughter of Brittany Drogos and David Kaszubski and stepdaughter of Mat Drogos. She leaves behind her adoring sisters Olivia, Aria, Ezri; stepbrother Connor; loving boyfriend Jacob Hughart; maternal grandparents Ron & Ginger Tripp; paternal grandfather Richard Kaszubski; her cherished feline companion Howl as well as many aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandma Marikay Kaszubski.

Kaelyn's life was filled with love for music, attending many concerts, with her favorite bands being Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance, she loved expressing herself openly through her appearance with ever changing hair colors and piercings. She loved the color purple, and most importantly—she loved her family. She was a beautiful kindhearted person who also had a witty sense of humor. Her laughter was contagious, and she lit up every room she walked into. When she loved something, she loved deeply. When she shared the things she loved with others, you were part of her world, and it was beautiful. Her passion for life shone through in everything she did. At just 18 years old she had already achieved so much—having been accepted into college and excelling in a management position through extremely hard work and dedication.

Her untimely departure has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew her. The warmth of her smile will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched. In this time of immeasurable loss, we find solace knowing that Kaelyn's spirit will live on within each person whose heart she touched during her brief but impactful time here with us. May you rest peacefully now sweet Kaelyn—you have left an indelible mark upon our hearts that can never be forgotten.

The funeral services to honor Kaelyn's memory will take place at Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home at 435 N York St in Elmhurst, IL. Visitation will be held on July 11th from 3:00pm until 8:00pm to allow friends and loved ones to pay their respects. A prayer service will commence at 10:00am on July 12th where all are welcome to join together in remembrance.

Christopher Mark Blasky, 50, a dedicated and proud police officer, loving husband, and devoted father unexpectedly passed away on May 26, 2024 at his home, an unmeasurable loss for his family and the community in whole.

Chris’s journey began in Elmhurst, where he was born to James and Marsha Blasky. He attended York High School, graduating in 1992, and went on to further his education at Harper College. His passion for service led him to the Army, where he served with distinction as a Sergeant in the military police.

In 1996, Chris met the love of his life and forever best friend, Kristi Devine, thanks to the encouragement of his best friend, Kris Mac Martin. This serendipitous date blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted over 25 years. Together, Chris and Kristi built a loving home and welcomed three wonderful children, Madison, Reagan, and Nixon. Chris’s love for his family was boundless, and being a father was his greatest joy and accomplishment.

After his military service, Chris continued his dedication to public safety by serving as a police officer in Elmhurst for over ten years. His kindness, warmth, and genuine care for others made him a beloved figure among his colleagues and the community. Chris’s career took him to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) department, where he continued to serve with the same dedication and integrity.

Chris’s family was the center of his world. He was a constant source of support and guidance for his children, always encouraging them to strive for their best. He cherished every moment spent with his parents, James and Marsha Blasky, his sister Jennifer and her husband Barron Green, and their children Lauren and Nathan, as well as his brother Gregory Blasky.

Chris's Labradors, Cassie and Kimber, held a special place in his heart, and he loved them as deeply as his family.

Chris’s presence was a beacon of positivity and joy. He had an extraordinary ability to lift the spirits of those around him, whether through his work or his everyday interactions. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Though Chris has left us too soon, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. We celebrate the life of a remarkable man who made the world a better place with his presence.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made for Reagan's education. As the account is in process we kindly ask for checks to be given to Kristy.

Rest in peace, Chris, we will take it from here.

Raymond John Potsic died on May 14, 2024, at his home in Elmhurst, IL. He was 86 years old.
Ray was born on October 11, 1937, at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL. Ray was the the firstborn of the two children of John and Anna Potsic. He attended J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero, IL.
During his time at Morton, and through the influence of inspirational music teachers, Ray developed an appreciation for music played at a high level. After attending Morton Junior College, he enlisted in the Air Force and played percussion in several Air Force bands, including those at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama, Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Edwards AFB in California.
After leaving the Air Force, Ray's interest in travel led him to a job at United Airlines, where he worked in the flight operations office at O'Hare for 38 years. He became known by Chicago-based pilots as "the man" to go to for answers relating to pilot support and scheduling. His career also afforded him and his family opportunities to travel extensively. He continued to play in a dance band most weekends throughout the 1960s, '70s, and '80s with gigs throughout the Chicago area.
Those who knew Ray remember him as a dedicated and selfless family man with a quick wit. But it was his happy and kind demeanor that truly defined him.

David Potsic

Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary Celebrates 60 Years in Elmhurst

The following article was published in the Suburban Life newspaper on November 9, 2018 and written by Mary Stroka...

Pedersen Ryberg Mortuary, a funeral home at 435 N. York St. in Elmhurst, celebrated its 60th anniversary with a ribbon cutting Oct. 26 in front of the business, which Tom Suh purchased Sept. 1.

Suh, who has been in the funeral industry for about 20 years, said he got involved in the business after he was impressed with the efforts a funeral service made in caring for his family at the time of his mother-in-law's death.

"I love to take care of the families who are going through hard times and have lost a loved one," he said.
