This month, Our Community Birth Center's team renewed their Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification with a special all-day birth center focused training through the American Association of Birth Centers. Our team spent the day practicing skills and techniques to provide fast and effective emergency care to babies with respiratory or cardiac distress. Our staff participates in a wide range of emergency practice drills throughout the year and maintains Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification to ensure we are always ready to provide the best care possible if a baby needs extra support after birth.

We are thrilled to share that Our Community Birth Center has received a generous grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation!

This grant will help support our collaboration with Black Thistle Street Aid to provide care to their clients without shelter, including STI testing and treatment, pregnancy care, prescription coordinator, contraception management, and more.

Many unhoused community members do not receive health care because of negative past experiences, transportation challenges, and other barriers. With this program, we are able to reduce barriers to care and provide essential health services by our midwives who provide personalized, trauma-informed care.

We are thrilled to announce that Jasmine Rose Doula Services has joined the birth center team as our new Childbirth Prep Plus Course facilitator!

Jasmine Rose (she/her/hers) is a certified doula and educator with a background in holistic nutrition, culinary arts, prenatal yoga, and Birthing From Within childbirth education. She is a mom to two amazing children and has also carried a baby as a gestational surrogate. All three pregnancies were supported by midwives. We are honored to be a part of this year's Eugene Pride Celebration. We will have a table in the outside area, where you can decorate pinwheels, rummage through some gently-used baby and toddler clothes, and pick out a lollipop! See you there!

Join us every Monday for postpartum and baby feeding support from our knowledgable and dedicated staff!

Baby Clinic runs every Monday from 12 pm to 1:30 pm at Our Community Birth Center! FREE to attend and open to all community members with infants of all ages.

• Have your baby weighed and track their growth
• Have your lactation & feeding questions answered
• Make connections with other parents
• Toys for little ones to play with
• Free, gently used baby and toddler clothes, as well as pregnancy items

Thank you to Three Rivers Foundation of Three Rivers Casino Resort for your generous support of Our Community Birth Center!

With this grant, we are able to support babies and parents through the continuation of Baby Clinic, held every Monday, where we weight babies to monitor their growth and provide personalized care and education to each family.

Additionally, this grant helps cover the costs of our yearly Neonatal Resuscitation Training. This training ensures that we are always ready if a baby needs any extra help with breathing at birth. Most babies give a strong cry at birth and breathe without any support. However, occasionally babies need help to start breathing effectively. Consistent training and practice keeps our team prepared to provide high quality health care for newborns.

We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support that was shown during our spring fundraiser. Whether you bid on auction items, attended Coffee & Confections, bought a floral arrangement, played games at the carnival, or made a donation in honor of the event, every single gift made a BIG impact and helped us surpass our goal.

We are in the FINAL stretches of our online silent auction. We are only $2,000 away from meeting our goal. Bidding closes at 7 pm tonight. We can make this happen! There is still time to bid on over 100 items: including gift cards, tickets to local theatre performances, jewelry, wine, baby items, and more!

Everything raised from our online silent auction goes to support our Equitable Access Fund, which provides client sponsorships for classes, prenatal care, birth services, postpartum care, lactation support, and more. This fund ensures that people may access Our Community Birth Center services regardless of their insurance type or ability to pay.
