When I was three, my parents — immigrants from Haiti — moved our family to Long Island for its promise of safe neighborhoods and a high-quality education.

Growing up on Long Island, I loved riding bikes, playing kickball, catching fireflies, and chasing down the “Mr. Softee” ice cream truck with my wrinkled dollar bill in hand.

As a student attending Long Island public schools, I earned academic and good citizenship awards — and I probably would've won more if they gave out awards for being “too talkative in class.”

By the age of 11, I had joined the Student Council and visited the New York State Capitol in Albany. I will never forget taking our group pictures on the staircase inside The People’s House.

I would revisit the New York State Capitol twenty years later — this time as a Legislative Chief of Staff, husband, and father.

Today, it is with great honor, pride, and humility that I announce my decision to run for the New York State Senate to represent Long Island’s 6th District in Albany.

The 6th Senate District includes the communities of Baldwin, Baldwin Harbor, Carle Place, Freeport, Garden City, Hempstead, Lakeview, Mineola, New Cassel, Oceanside, Rockville Centre, Roosevelt, Uniondale, Westbury, and West Hempstead.

I’m running because thousands of working-class families are fleeing Long Island for neighboring states due to skyrocketing housing costs and property taxes.

I’m running because our schools face devastating budget cuts while students and teachers are expected to deliver better results with fewer resources.

I’m running because our healthcare heroes and hospitals are still in crisis — even after the COVID-19 pandemic — with labor shortages, rising costs, and low reimbursement rates threatening their stability.

For more than a decade of my career, I have worked hard to serve my community and make a positive impact in New York as a tenant organizer, mental health advocate, civic leader, and legislative policy advisor.

With the support of my family and community, I wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to accept this mantle of leadership and be a fighter for every family and every voice in the 6th Senate District of New York.

Healing is a Journey 💫

Thank you to best-selling author, Sophia Sunshine, for allowing me to host a safe, intimate, and affirming space for invited guests to celebrate the release of her new book, “His and Her Will Be Done.”

We enjoyed a refreshing conversation about healing from generational trauma, making intentional choices, overcoming betrayal, practicing forgiveness, and exploring the true meaning of family & legacy.
