At last night’s Council Meeting, the Town of Elsmere had the privilege of recognizing Retired Major General Francis D. Vavala, who was born and raised right here in Elsmere, for his extraordinary lifetime of service and leadership.

Major General Vavala, Delaware’s longest-serving Adjutant General and a respected national advocate for service members and veterans, has made lasting contributions to our state and our country. His commitment to duty, integrity, and community reflects the very best of what it means to serve.

To honor his achievements, Elsmere proudly presented him with an official Town Tribute and designated him as an Elsmere “Hometown Hero.” A commemorative banner will be displayed in his honor as a reminder of the deep appreciation held by our community.

Please join us in congratulating Major General Vavala and thanking him for his decades of devoted service.

Bring the family and stop by the Elsmere Fire Company for their Open House this Thursday, October 23rd from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM!

Come meet your local firefighters, tour the station, check out the fire trucks, and learn more about fire safety and the important work our volunteers do for our community each and every day.

There will be fun activities for all to enjoy - everyone is welcome!

🎃👻 You're Invited to the Town's Spooktacular Event! 👻🎃
Friday, October 24th | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Get your costumes ready for a frightfully fun evening the whole family will enjoy!

🎭 Costume Parade kicks off at 5pm at Town Hall (11 Poplar Avenue) and ends at the Elsmere Fire Hall (1107 Kirkwood Hwy).
🚓 The Elsmere Police will be on hand to es**rt the parade and ensure everyone’s safety!

Once we arrive at the Fire Hall…
🍬🎁 Get ready for a safe, indoor Trick-or-Treat experience! Local vendors will be handing out candy and fun giveaways for the kiddos.
🧙‍♀️🦸‍♂️🧛Costume Contest winners will be announced shortly after the parade line has made it through the trick or treat vendors.

Come celebrate the spooky season with us in a fun, family-friendly way!
🎃👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 We can’t wait to see all the creative costumes and smiling faces!
