On January 5, 2026, the Lorain Opportunity and Vocational Center rang in the New Year with festive hats, noisemakers, and plenty of laughter! Our Adult Program participants had a wonderful time celebrating side by side and starting the year with joy and connection.

🎶 Holiday Magic at LOVC! 🎄
Our Adult Program participants at the Lorain Opportunity and Vocational Center were treated to something truly special! Our very own secretary, Barb Conrad, filled the building with the beautiful sounds of Christmas as she played the piano and led us in singing traditional holiday favorites.
Her music warmed our hearts and brought smiles to every face, creating a joyful atmosphere that reminded us of the true spirit of the season. Thank you, Barb, for sharing your incredible talent and making this day unforgettable! ❤️🎄🎁🎅❤️

The Lorain Opportunity and Vocational Center has been spreading Christmas cheer! 🎄✨

Recently, a group of our Adult Program participants visited Lake Pointe Health Center to share the joy of the season through Christmas caroling. Their smiles and songs filled the halls with warmth, laughter, and holiday spirit, creating unforgettable moments for the residents.

This beautiful experience reminds us of the power of kindness and community—especially during this special time of year. ❤️

Each area brought their creativity to life in our annual Gingerbread House Competition, crafting unique and festive masterpieces that truly captured the season!

After much deliberation, our unbiased and independent guest judge from the IT Department, Missi Obeshaw, crowned Area 3 as the 2025 Winner! 🏆👏

🎶 What a Wonderful Day at LOVC! 🎶
Today, we were treated to something truly special at the Lorain Opportunity and Vocational Center! The incredibly talented Chad Hoffman filled our building with the sounds of classic Christmas favorites, and it was pure holiday magic.
His music brought smiles, laughter, and joy to everyone. Our Adult Program participants clapped, sang along, and soaked up every moment of his performance. It was the perfect way to kick off the holiday spirit!
Chad is a gifted solo-acoustic singer and songwriter based right here in northern Ohio, and we are so grateful he shared his time and talent with us today. Thank you, Chad, for making this day unforgettable!🎄🎅❄️🎁🎄

Today, our amazing team came together to make a difference for our furry friends at Friendship APL. With the help of our very own Santa Jesse, employees generously donated to support animals in need. 💰A total of $230.69 was raised. 🫶 Santa Jesse proudly represented Murray Ridge and graciously presented the donations to Friendship APL Executive Director, Greg Willey

Your kindness and compassion truly embody the spirit of the holidays. Every contribution helps provide warmth, care, and love to pets waiting for their forever homes. 🏠

🎅✨ The Secret Santa Shop is Back! ✨🎅
Our Adult Program participants at the Lorain Occupational and Vocational Center have been hard at work setting up our annual Santa Shop!

This shop is truly a labor of love, beautifully created each year to bring joy to our consumers. It’s more than just a shop—it’s a chance for our consumers to experience the joy of giving by choosing and purchasing gifts for their loved ones.

Every smile, every wrapped present, and every heartfelt moment makes the holiday season a little brighter for everyone. ❤️

Our mission is to ensure the availability of services and supports that assist eligible individuals in living the life they choose; to promote their health and safety; and to assist and support the families of these individuals in achieving these goals.

For 50 years, the Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities, more commonly known as Murray Ridge Center, has been providing lifelong services for Lorain County citizens with developmental disabilities. Our broad range of services and supports assist more than 2,000 individuals and their families annually. Murray Ridge Center has facilities throughout Lorain County, including the Administrative offices, Supported Employment offices, Murray Ridge School, Service & Support Administration offices, and three Opportunity/Vocational Centers located in Elyria, Lorain, and Oberlin. All our efforts may be summed up in these words: “Helping people…for a lifetime,” and we never forget that it is both our duty and our privilege to fulfill our mission every day.
