Meet our amazing resident, Emma Chance, who celebrated her 101st birthday today! Brookdale Emerson honored Emma with a wonderful celebration filled with warmth, love, and her family as special guests. Carol, the Resident Program Manager, read the Proclamation from the Borough of Emerson naming August 31st as "Emma Chance's Day." A special performance by The Petetts serenaded her with her favorite song, "Chances Are," and songs dating back to the 30s! Emma was born on August 31, 1924, in Hoboken, New Jersey. She is a widow with three children, five grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren! She used to crochet and knit. Her favorite games are Canasta, Rummikub, checkers, and Blackjack, and she would like to learn more.

We all wish you the happiest of birthdays, Emma!

Due to the inclement weather we had today, we sprinkled some love and happiness with some beautiful potted rose plants with a note, "We hope this will brighten your day, Team Emerson"! It was truly a beautiful thing to see all the smiling faces!!!

We are very thankful to have Solis & Luna Arts volunteers for rolling out their new program of Neurographic art here at Brookdale Emerson with our residents!! Neurographic art is a meditative art technique that utilizes lines, curves, and connections to represent the flow of our thoughts and emotions. Unlike traditional drawing, which often focuses on replicating a specific image, neurographic art emphasizes creating more organic and neuron-like lines and shapes, aiming to transform stress into works of art.
