Dear Friends in Recovery,
Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year ! We are so grateful for the many friends we have in the Lehigh Valley and for all of your work in the recovery community.
In 2016, I saw the film Generation Found for the first time. I, along with a group of like-minded individuals began a quest to bring a recovery high school and alternative peer group program to the Lehigh Valley. Though we were met with many obstacles, we never gave up the idea that adolescents in our community were an underserved population and needed these programs. Unable to work directly with any school districts, to develop a high school program, we pursued the idea of creating an alternative peer group program.
In March of 2020 REACH LV YOUTH Recovery Center was set to open its doors and because of the COVID19 Pandemic we were unable to start our in-person program util the spring of the following year.
Referrals from schools, treatment providers and community members have been nearly non-existent. Relationships formed within the community, from our years of working and networking in the Lehigh Valley, brought families to us. Joan Halucha, VP of REACH has been working within the community since 2005 and I have been working with families that have been impacted by SUD since 2011.
We are sorry to have to close our doors, as of February 28th. From the entire group that dedicated their time to our youth including Louise Muzio, Judith Yanacek, Fred Rooney and Sharon Stauffer, we wish you well.
