Angela Smith was born and raised in Valentines, Virginia, and currently reside in Emporia, Virginia. She is a proud mother of two amazing sons, Jadin and Jordan.
Ms. Smith is a dedicated professional with a strong foundation in both criminal justice and behavioral health. She earned a High School Diploma from Brunswick High School in 2001. Ms. Smith went on to receive an Associate Degree in Administration of Justice from Southside Virginia Community College in 2003, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Liberty University in 2013, and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from American Public University in 2015.
With 19 years of experience in the criminal justice field, she brings a wealth of knowledge and real-world insight into every role. Currently, she serves as a CTE Criminal Justice Teacher at her alma mater, Brunswick High School, in her second year of teaching and inspiring students to explore careers in criminal justice and public service. In addition to her teaching role, she is also a Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP-T) with Wyche Counseling Services in Emporia, Virginia. In this role, she provides direct support to youth and adults through therapeutic services, helping clients manage emotional and behavioral challenges with empathy, structure, and evidence-based strategies. Ms. Smith’s work focuses on anger management, emotional regulation, coping skill development, and support with daily functioning in home and community settings. She is passionate about uplifting individuals, building rapport, and guiding clients toward long-term personal growth. Whether in the classroom or in the behavioral field, her goal is to foster resilience, accountability, and positive transformation.
