What is Pain?
Pain is a warning sign. It is like a smoke alarm going off in our home. It is our body's own alarm system telling us that something is wrong. Most people experience some significant pain at some point in their life. It can be caused by illness, injury, or from unknown causes. It is telling us that our body is out of balance. Our body can get stuck in a pain signal and tissue repair process and often needs some intervention to help move out of pain and heal!

What is Dao Needle Therapy® and how can it help?
Dao Needle Therapy® is a specialized style of acupuncture that uses a unique needle and a variety of musculoskeletal diagnostic tools to identify where there is dysfunction and compensation in the body causing pain.

Who Can Perform Dao Needle Therapy®?
Licensed acupuncturists must be certified as a Dao Needle Therapists® and have undergone additional specialized training beyond licensure and doctoral training to be able to perform Dao Needle Therapy®.

What to Expect During an Initial Visit?
30-60 Minutes
An initial visit may last between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the number of areas and the severity of your discomfort. The Dao Needle® Therapist will consult with you about your pain and perform several non-invasive diagnostic tests before Dao Needling®. Additional tests will then be performed to determine if more needle therapy is necessary.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Many factors determine the frequency of visits and the number of required visits. Each patient’s needs are unique. These factors include the level of complication, severity, duration, and type of pain (chronic vs. acute), and the age of the patient. On average 4-6 treatments are required for an initial course of care and then we re-evaluate the progress to determine next steps to keep you healthy and pain free!
