I'm frequently asked "What types of conditions is Acupuncture good for?"
After 30 years of practicing, I have to remember that many people are still becoming aware of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine… and that they offer viable and effective treatment options for most common conditions.
I look forward to sharing some of these that I frequently treat in the clinic. Let's focus on immune support today...it sure seems relevant at this time!

Winter often leaves your immune system working overtime, whether it’s fighting off colds, lingering fatigue, post viral symptoms, or seasonal allergies. Acupuncture provides a natural
way to strengthen your body’s immune defenses, boost energy levels, and help you recover faster if you are already under the weather. It can also help your body kick out the lingering
effects of a virus that just doesn’t seem to want to let go.
Common immune-related issues to support include:

● Frequent colds or flu
● Lingering fatigue after illness, Covid or flu
● Chronic sinus infections or congestion
● Seasonal allergies
● Stress-related immune suppression

Let me help you feel your best this winter by enhancing your body’s immune system through acupuncture, herbal/supplement recommendations and looking at how your lifestyle can best support you.

As we move into the new year, it is a perfect time to Reflect and Recharge!

Winter is the season for introspection in Chinese Medicine. It’s the perfect time to look at the year behind you and perhaps set gentle intentions for the year ahead—not the “do everything perfectly"kind of resolutions, but the “what would nourish me?” kind.

For me, this means taking an inventory and listening to my body. Sometimes what nourishes me is to rest. Sometimes what nourishes me is to move. My body tells me what KIND of movement...and sometimes, let’s be honest, I can get cranky and that’s code for me to move OR rest OR simply have a bit more fun!

It might be as simple as adding 15 minutes of sleep a night, a power nap in the afternoon or making a point of staying connected with loved ones by sending them funny memes or texts, or dedicating more time to nourishing activities like cooking and reading.

WINTER REMINDS ME THAT GROWTH HAPPENS EVEN IN STILLNESS.

The last couple of years, I've started introducing ONE new habit for the year... 2024, I incorporated a weekly pilates class that has me feeling much more flexible and toned... for 2025, it is incorporating a regular weight routine for greater strength and endurance on my bike.

Are there any intentions you are carrying into the new year? I’d love to hear how you’re nurturing yourself as we move through this season.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Christiane

Winter calls for foods that warm and nourish from the inside out. In Chinese Medicine, eating
with the season means focusing on hearty, cooked meals like soups, stews, and roasted
veggies—and adding warming spices that support digestion and circulation.
Here are some of my favorite winter spices and their benefits:
● Ginger: Warms the body, aids digestion, and soothes cold hands and feet.
● Cinnamon: Supports circulation and helps balance blood sugar. Plus, it makes
everything taste cozier.
● Garlic: Boosts immunity and keeps colds at bay.
● Clove: A warming spice that supports digestion and helps with winter sluggishness.
● Star Anise: Promotes circulation and adds a beautiful aroma to soups and teas.
One of my go-to teas right now is Rooibos Chai made with oatmilk. It’s my comfort drink in
winter, and warms me all the way through!
What’s your favorite warming winter dish or drink? I’m always looking for new inspiration!

In winter, it’s easy to feel depleted if you’re giving too much of yourself without refilling your tank.
Chinese Medicine teaches us that this is the season to conserve energy, not burn it out. I like to
think of winter as my “boundary season.”
For me, protecting my energy looks like saying no when I need to, wrapping myself in layers
(energetic and literal), and choosing activities that restore me. It’s not about isolation; it’s about
being intentional with how I spend my time and energy.
What’s one way you can set a boundary or conserve energy this winter? Share below—I’m
always curious about what works for people because patients are always asking how to lovingly
set a good boundary in the name of self care!
