🏇✨ Ageless Adventures at the Del Mar Races! ✨🏇

At Summerfield Memory Care of Encinitas, we celebrated National Assisted Living Week — and this year’s theme, "Ageless Adventures”, couldn’t be more fitting! 🎉

To kick off the week, we took our residents on a thrilling outing to the Del Mar Horse Races, where the spirit of adventure was alive and well. From the sound of the starting bell to cheering on their favorite horses, our residents proved that no matter your age, life is still full of excitement, wonder, and new experiences. 💙🐎

This special week was all about celebrating the vibrant lives of our residents and honoring the incredible journeys they’re still on. Whether it’s a day at the races, a walk by the ocean, or sharing stories over coffee — every moment is part of the ageless adventure we’re proud to be a part of.

Aloha, Summerfield ʻOhana! 🌺

Today’s luau luncheon at Summerfield of Encinitas was nothing short of magical! Thank you to all residents, families, and friends who brought the aloha spirit to life! Here’s a little glimpse of the day:

What Made the Day Special:

Sumptuous Spread: From tender, savory lechon (pork lechon) to an array of delicious side dishes bursting with tropical flavors, every bite was a taste of paradise.

Bubbles & Cheers: Whether toasting old memories or making new ones, the Tiki bubbles added an extra layer of joy to our celebration.

Live Music Vibes: Iris’s beautiful acoustic performance was the heart of the luau, soft melodies, warm voices, dancing tunes and a soundtrack fit for an island sunset.

A Gathering of Hearts: The laughter, conversations, and shared smiles between residents, families, and staff created a sense of community that fills us with gratitude.

From Our Hearts to Yours:

Mahalo nui loa to everyone who joined us for this wonderful celebration. Your presence made all the difference and turned an ordinary luncheon into an extraordinary island escape. We treasure these moments of togetherness and look forward to creating many more!

🌊🎢Coastal Breezes and Big Smiles!🎢🌊

Yesterday was one for the memory books! Our wonderful residents at Summerfield of Encinitas Memory Care took a scenic coaster ride along the California coast, and it was pure joy from start to finish. 🚆💙

We enjoyed stunning ocean views, great company, and plenty of laughter along the way. From the rhythmic hum of the train to the salty breeze and sunshine on our faces, it was a beautiful reminder of how simple moments can bring so much happiness. 😊🌴

Thank you to our amazing team who made this special outing possible. We’re already looking forward to our next adventure!

🌊A Gentle Ocean Journey🐢✨
On Monday, our Summerfield residents enjoyed a peaceful outing to the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater at the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. We watched the soothing yet captivating documentary, Turtle Odyssey, narrated by Russell Crowe, which follows the remarkable life journey of Bunji, an Australian green sea turtle. We saw her swim from hatchling stage through adulthood, navigating oceans and returning to the beach where she was born.
What our residents loved:
* Watching sea turtles glide serenely through vibrant waters.
* The calm pacing and soft narration felt comforting and immersive.
* Bonding over the simple beauty of nature...many smiles, soft conversations, and shared memories.
We are so glad to have shared this relaxing and enriching experience with everyone!

We had an unforgettable visit from our friends at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, who brought some amazing animal ambassadors to meet our residents!

Everyone lit up as we got up close and personal with a friendly chicken, a slithery snake, and a curious bearded dragon. The visit sparked memories, smiles, and lots of great conversation. It's incredible how the simple joy of connecting with animals can brighten a day and warm the heart. 💛

A big thank you to Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation for this special experience. The foundation visits us monthly here at Summerfield, and we always look forward to the day they arrive. We love moments like these that bring our Summerfield community together in such meaningful ways! 🥰

🤩🌞 Summerfield Adventures!🚐✨

Our residents have been soaking up the sunshine and making the most of summer with some amazing recent outings! 🌊🌆

1️⃣ San Diego County Fair– We had a blast enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of the fair! From delicious treats to live entertainment, it was a day full of fun and laughter. 🎡🍦🎶🐾

2️⃣ Fleet Science Center – Sharp Minds Lecture & Documentary – On a beautiful Senior Monday, we explored fascinating science topics and enjoyed a thought-provoking documentary of the Serengeti. We followed it up with a scenic lunch at Mt. Soledad in La Jolla...stunning views and great company! 🧠🎥🥪🌄

3️⃣ USS Midway Museum – Our residents loved stepping aboard this historic aircraft carrier! We explored the decks, learned about naval history, and shared stories of service and adventure. ⚓✈️

Meet Gigi, one of our beloved caregivers here at Summerfield of Encinitas! 💙

Gigi has been part of the Summerfield family for an incredible 19 years, and she brings with her a remarkable 40 years of experience as a caregiver. Her dedication and compassion shine through in everything she does.

What inspired Gigi to work in memory care? It's the joy she sees in our residents — the smiles, the laughter, and the special moments that make every day meaningful. Her heart for helping others is truly the foundation of her decades-long career.

Outside of work, Gigi enjoys relaxing and spending time doing things around the house, a well-earned break for someone who gives so much each day!

Her favorite part of the job? “Taking care of our residents,” she says with a smile and we can see it in the way she cares, connects, and makes a difference in so many lives.

Thank you, Gigi, for your incredible service, heart, and dedication. We are so grateful to have you as part of the Summerfield family! 💐

🌺 Hummingbird Habitat Project Complete! 🌺
Over the weekend, something truly special took flight at Summerfield of Encinitas 🐦💚

A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers and staff who helped bring our Hummingbird Garden Project to life — your time and care transformed a couple of overlooked corners into vibrant spaces full of promise and beauty. 🌿✨

Our colorful new feeders are now up and being lovingly maintained by our staff, and we’re all eagerly watching for the arrival of our tiny, winged visitors! This revitalization project not only adds natural beauty to our courtyards, but also brings joy, serenity, and meaningful moments to our residents.

🌞🐾 A Safari Adventure at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park! 🦁🌿

We had an unforgettable day at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park! Our residents at Summerfield of Encinitas Memory Care had the opportunity to explore the wild, meet exotic animals, and create wonderful experiences together. 🦓🐅

From the breathtaking views to the fun-filled moments, laughter, and smiles were in abundance. We also enjoyed some delicious food and great company, making the day even more special. 🍽️❤️

It’s these moments that truly remind us of the joy that life has to offer, no matter where we are in our journey. We’re so grateful for the experiences that bring our community closer together and for the memories we create every day!

This week we had the pleasure of celebrating a wonderful resident's birthday, and what better way to mark the occasion than with some delicious Krispy Kreme doughnuts! 🍩❤️ A big thank you to the family for bringing in the sweet treats for everyone to enjoy. It was a delightful time filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of doughnuts shared among residents and staff alike!

We're so grateful for the moments that bring us all together—whether it's a birthday, a special treat, or just another day to enjoy one another's company. Here's to more moments of joy and connection at Summerfield of Encinitas! 🥳

🎶✨ Our residents at Summerfield Memory Care of Encinitas are rocking out in style! 🎸🎤

We had an absolute blast creating these *rockin' record door decorations* to add some musical flair to our hallways. Each resident worked together to design unique vinyl-inspired pieces, bringing their creativity and love for music to life. It’s amazing to see how art can spark joy and memories, and we’re so proud of our residents’ hard work and fun spirit! 🎨🎶

Each door is a reflection of our residents’ individuality and their shared love for music. We’re rocking the halls, and we’re loving every minute of it! 😎💖
