How Well Do You Know Your Body?

When was the last time you truly listened to your body after eating?
It’s not about following trends or someone else’s diet plan; it’s about paying attention to how you feel and learning to respond accordingly.

Do you feel energized after eating, or do you crash soon after?
Are your meals leaving you feeling energized, grounded, and balanced?
Do you wake up the next day without bloating or sluggishness?

Thriving from the foods you eat isn’t just about physical health; it’s about emotional and mental clarity, sustained energy, and a deep sense of vitality. For some, thriving might look like finding foods that energize you through a busy afternoon without cravings or crashes; for others, it means discovering foods that leave you clear-minded and not bogged down by heaviness or discomfort.

What does thrive mean to you?
To me, thriving through food means eating in a way that supports digestion, energy, and mental clarity. I am so grateful you are in my life.

Quick Ayurvedic Thought 🙇🏻‍♀️

Fall, or Vata season in Ayurveda, is known for its cool, dry, and windy qualities. To counterbalance these through food, a Thanksgiving meal does just this. A traditional Thanksgiving meal emphasizes warm, grounding, and nourishing foods that comfort Vata.

Coincidence? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Warming: Turkey, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Ginger, and Nutmeg, warming spices aid digestion and stimulate our digestive fire or Agni in Ayurveda.
Grounding: Sweet Potatoes, Beets, Carrots, and Squash
Seasonal fruits: Cranberries, Apples, and Pears, gently cooked to enhance their digestibility.

A traditional Thanksgiving meal is the perfect balancing fall meal. 🙏🏼
No matter how you celebrate, look to seasonal fall foods to create inner balance.

How do you feel after the foods you eat?
Do you know what foods support your mind and body and which ones…. not so much?

There is a misconception that if we eat “healthy,” we will be healthy, but that’s not true.

You have your very own health blueprint, and optimal health is created by having balance within your systems.
What is healthy to one may not be to another.

When you’re in balance, you feel energized, mentally sharp and clear, physically strong and agile, and deeply connected to what matters most. Though injuries, symptoms, and conditions may come, you heal knowing that inner balance is the key to your recovery.

Your gut might be unable to digest foods you believe to be helping you. Learning how your mind and body are affected by foods, lifestyle, environment, and seasons is a must to have energy, clarity of mind, and alignment with the things that matter most.

🙌🏼 Tune into how you feel after a meal.
Tired? Energized? How about 1-2 hours later? Are you still full? Bloated? Gassy? Satiated?

🙌🏼 Be present when you eat.
Do you enjoy the taste and texture of the foods? Is there a variety of colors? Connect to your fuel.

🙌🏼 Take notice of the weather.
Is it cold? Eat something warm! Is the day hot? Eat something cool, not just the food temperature, but the food’s qualities. Ex. Cool as a cucumber.

We are almost a month into fall! 🤯

As the wind picks up, 💨 what gets windy in your world?
Fall is usually a busy time, and our minds can get scattered.
Grounding can help us clear our minds and help us focus on the significant things in our lives.

What is something that grounds you?
Grounding can be a simple one-minute practice and can bring a significant shift.

🍁 Get Barefoot! The ground may be getting chilly, but see if you can still place your feet onto the earth to ground by allowing your body to directly absorb the earth’s natural negative electrical charge, acting like a conduit for electrons to transfer into your body through skin contact with the ground, which can reduce inflammation, ease stress, and improve sleep.

🍁 Embrace the season’s flavors with fresh squashes, brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, and apples. 🍎 Some other beneficial Fall foods are brown rice, millet, and root vegetables such as carrots, daikon, parsnip, burdock, turnips, beets, pumpkins, and squashes. Root veggies nourish and help you feel more grounded (rooted) and make a nice soup.

🍁 Stay hydrated. Perhaps you can sip some hot tea and drink your water, please. 💧 The general rule for hydration is half your weight in ounces. (200 lbs. 100 oz of water) Hydration keeps your organs functioning properly and your mind sharp and balances the dry and windy temperaments of the Fall season.

Transitions can sometimes be complex in our minds and our bodies. Being aware and noticing the seasons helps you to stay healthy and vital. By incorporating one or all of these tips, you can better support and nurture yourself during seasonal changes.
