“I do sock-matching when I’m overwhelmed—it’s my version of procrastacleaning.” – Jami Shapiro, Grandma Has ADHD (EP 53)

If you have ADHD, you know the drill: when the big task feels impossible, we suddenly find ourselves deep-cleaning, reorganizing, or in Jami’s case—matching socks. It’s not laziness—it’s how our ADHD brains cope with overwhelm.

💡 This is called procrastacleaning—doing small, mindless tasks to feel productive when executive function makes it hard to start the real task.

👉 What’s YOUR version of procrastacleaning? Dishes, folding laundry, scrubbing the sink, or something else? Share in the comments ⬇️

💬 “We tend to people-please and overachieve, but that can mean ignoring our own warning signs.” – Jami Shapiro, host of Grandma Has ADHD

So many people with ADHD fall into the cycle of overachieving and constantly proving themselves—while quietly battling burnout, stress, and even health issues. 🚨 People-pleasing may make others happy, but it often leaves us depleted and disconnected from our own needs.

In Episode 51 of the Grandma Has ADHD podcast, Jami Shapiro opens up about how ADHD, perfectionism, and people-pleasing show up in everyday life—and why learning to set boundaries and listen to your body is essential. 🌿

👉 It’s not selfish to care for yourself first. In fact, it’s survival.

So many of us—especially those living with ADHD, chronic illness, or caregiving roles—struggle to ask for support. We push through pain, overwhelm, and burnout because independence feels safer than leaning on others. But as Kayva reminds us, accepting help doesn’t make you weak—it makes you stronger. 💙

Kayva Jha, Data-Driven Ethical Wound Care SME & Senior Patient Advocate for Healthcare Navigation, shares her insights on the importance of building a support system. From wound care and healthcare navigation to personal struggles with perfectionism and ADHD traits, she advocates for choosing self-compassion over isolation.

💡 Sometimes the bravest step forward is simply saying: “I can’t do this alone.”

When you stop trying to force things, life becomes easier. ✨

We spend so much energy trying to control every outcome — chasing, pushing, and overthinking. But the moment you loosen your grip, you make space for the right opportunities, people, and experiences to flow in naturally.

Trust the timing. Trust the process. What’s meant for you won’t pass you by.

Let’s talk about it: S*x and intimacy don’t just “happen” in long-term relationships — especially when ADHD is in the mix.

As Dr. Jane Rosen Grandon says, “It’s really important to put s*x on the calendar of your life... and develop some sort of a rhythm together.” When you or your partner has ADHD, intimacy can easily take a back seat. Life gets busy. Communication breaks down. Resentment builds.

But connection doesn’t have to fade — it just needs to be intentional.
