(BINGHAMTON, NY) Two Binghamton residents are facing multiple charges after fleeing deputies and throwing objects at patrols before a Stop-Stick deployment ended their pursuit in the City of Binghamton.
On Thursday, January 22, 2026, at approximately 1:54 AM, members of the Broome County Sheriffโs Office Road Patrol in the area of Glenwood Ave. in the City of Binghamton observed a black-colored Jeep matching the description of a vehicle involved in multiple pursuits with the City of Binghamton Police Department. The Jeep was also observed using license plates that were reported stolen out of the Village of Johnson City.
After Patrols attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the Jeep failed to stop and traveled northbound on Julian St. at a high rate of speed, ignoring stop signs and jumping a curb onto Holland St. while fleeing patrols. The pursuit continued onto Prospect St., with the Jeep reaching speeds of approximately 70 mph, ignoring multiple red lights and sliding across multiple lanes of traffic as the Jeep proceeded to the State Route 17 East on ramp in the Town of Dickinson.
The driver fled eastbound on State Route 17, weaving across multiple lanes of traffic and reaching speeds of approximately 90 mph as the front seat passenger climbed into the back seat of the Jeep and began throwing objects at the patrol vehicle, including a gas can, laundry, what appeared to be metal tools, CDs and other miscellaneous items.
The pursuit continued to the Exit 12 off ramp in the City of Binghamton, but not before the driver swerved across all lanes of traffic and between two tractor trailers on their way to the exit. The Jeep then ran another red light and proceeded onto Interstate Route 81 South, while the passenger continued throwing objects at pursuing patrols.
At this time, another member of BCSO Road Patrol was positioned on Route 81 S near Exit 9 with Stop-sticks, and coordinated with pursuing patrols to successfully deploy them on the fleeing vehicle, flattening both front tires as it took the Exit 9 off ramp.
The fleeing vehicle came to a stop shortly after crossing the stop-stick and the driver exited the vehicle. After ignoring multiple verbal commands to halt, the driver finally complied and was placed into custody. The female passenger was taken into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as Sean L. Brown, age 26 of the Town of Binghamton, NY, who was found to have had multiple warrants out of Pennsylvania State Police in Gibson, including one felony. The passenger was identified as Kiley N. Bonilla-Lattanze, age 24 of Binghamton, NY.
A small plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. In additional to having stolen plates, the vehicle was also determined to be unregistered, uninspected, uninsured, and Brownโs license was suspended due to failure to answer 13 summons on 4 separate dates.
Following a full investigation, the following charges were issued:
Sean L. Brown
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Two (2) Counts of Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Class A Misdemeanors
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor

- Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor

Bonilla-Lattanze was processed and released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Kirkwood Court.
Brown was processed and is currently being held at the Broome County Correctional Facility pending extradition by Pennsylvania State Police.
"Excellent work by our BCSO Road Patrol Deputies once again coordinating and successfully deploying stock-sticks,โ said Sheriff Fred Akshar. โLet this be a simple lesson to those who think they can escape the consequences of endangering the safety of our Broome County residents: Think twice and donโt run. We will find you and you will answer for your crimes.โ
The Broome County Sheriffโs Office was assisted by the New York State Police.
