Major Acne Triggers 🙅🏻‍♀️ Remember everyone is different and what effects you may not effect others.

Smoking🚬: Leads to high inflammation levels which slows your healing process, can disrupt hormonal balance, and dehydrate skin making it excessively oily which clogs pores.

Energy Drinks🥤: High in sugar, energy drinks often contain B vitamins, which can cause irritation in the skin and increase acne.

Eggs 🍳: Full of progesterone, an acne triggering hormone. Since your body creates it’s own progesterone, consuming extra hormones can disrupt your body’s natural hormone levels leading to acne.

Whey Protein🫙: Whey increases testosterone levels and inflammation in the body which causes oil production in the skin and will clog pores.

Peanut Butter🥜: Contains androgen like hormones. If you are acne prone, high androgen foods like peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil, etc can lead to inflammation.

Biotin Supplements💊: Biotin increases the amount of skin protein we produce, specifically keratin protein. The excessive amounts of keratin physically clogs your pores and mixes with your natural oil to create sticky plugs.

Welcome to glowbylexi!✨Let me introduce myself, my name is Lexi and I am NYS licensed esthetician and cosmetologist. I started this account to document my esthetics journey and share my knowledge! You can expect to see informational posts, tips and tricks, before and after pictures and more.🤍 Before I begin posting about esthetics, I thought I would tell you a little bit about myself. My interest in the beauty and wellness industry started in high school where I attended the BOCES cosmetology program. Immediately after graduating high school, I obtained my cosmetology license. Following that, I went to Aesthetic Science Institute in Latham, NY and graduated in February of 2020. Following graduation, I obtained my esthetics license.👩🏻‍🎓I am proud to say I am now an acne specialist, with certifications in dermaplaning, nano/micro-needling, chemical peels, lash lifting, brow lamination, facial waxing and spray tanning.🧖🏻‍♀️I also offer a wide variety of customizable facials.
