Cool off your exercise routine this summer and consider swimming. Swimming is a great exercise for you and your health. Plus, it puts less stress on any of your aching joints. Swimming is a great cardiovascular workout.

These really are the dog days of summer! It has been scorching hot and humid almost everywhere in the U.S.

We hope you are staying cool and hydrated.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors, remember to drink plenty of fluids and know the signs of Heat exhaustion and Heat stroke.

Avoid going outside during the hours of 10-3 if possible.

The Florida Health Department has issued an advisory for mosquito borne illness malaria, due to FOUR cases in Sarasota County.

Symptoms include fever, flu like illness, headache, muscle aches and tiredness. Nausea and other symptoms may occur.

What precautions and prevention can you do?

Drain any standing water to prevent mosquitoes from multiplying

Maintain pools with proper chlorination

Use screens on doors and windows to keep mosquitoes out of your home

Cover skin with clothing or repellent

Stay inside at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are active
