Did you know? More than 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents.

This statistic comes from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), and it highlights just how important early education, support, and resources are for families learning about hearing differences.

For many parents, newborn hearing screening is the first moment they learn their child may be deaf or hard-of-hearing. As NIDCD notes, “Early identification of hearing loss gives a child the best possible chance for healthy development.”

Understanding, communication options, and community support can make an enormous difference in a child’s language development and confidence.

Advanced Hearing Solutions recently volunteered again at The Island School on Boca Grande, providing hearing screenings for students and helping identify those who may need further evaluation. It’s always meaningful to support this community and ensure children have access to hearing care that plays such an important role in learning and connection. I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back and help students hear, learn, and thrive. 💜

Dr Crosby is co host of a show called The Sound Sisters: The Hearing Diaries. In this episode she shares info about a program that can assist tinnitus patients.

Our latest Sound Sisters show is out. Lindsey Koble and I interviewed Jennifer Gans,Clinical Psychologist and creator of Mindfulnesstinnitus.com
It was a very informative interview and her program can provide hope to tinnitus patients worldwide!! Share this interview if you know someone who suffers from tinnitus. I will add that you should see an audiologist or ENT first to be evaluated to rule out a medical problem and I personally think you will be more successful working alongside a skilled, educated tinnitus specialist! The two things combined can make a big difference to so many!!!

"Happy National Winnie the Pooh Day!

Winnie the Pooh reminds us of something simple — and powerful: the importance of truly listening.

Whether it’s a friend sharing their day, a child telling a story, or a loved one saying “I love you,” hearing is how we stay connected to the people who matter most — and how we show up for one another.

Today is a sweet reminder that listening supports emotional wellness, deeper relationships, and meaningful moments we never want to miss.

January is National Self-Care Month

Self-care is more than rest and routines — it’s about caring for every part of your well-being, including your hearing.

Untreated hearing loss is closely linked to mental health challenges, feelings of loneliness, and cognitive decline. When we struggle to hear, we often withdraw from conversations and the connections that keep us engaged and fulfilled.

As we begin a new year, consider making hearing health part of your self-care plan. Prioritizing your hearing supports clearer communication, stronger relationships, and a healthier mind. Come visit us to have your hearing checked.

Because taking care of yourself means staying connected to the world around you.

Did you know that in the U.S., about 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children are born with a detectable level of hearing loss in one or both ears?

That might not sound like a lot — but when you consider how many babies are born every year, it adds up to thousands of children who could benefit from early care and support. Early detection is especially important: as the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) notes, “infants who are born deaf or hard-of-hearing have a better chance of learning language if the hearing loss is identified immediately after birth.”

Let’s spread awareness and support hearing checks for newborns.

A new year is a great reminder to check in on your hearing. Just like vision and dental exams, an annual hearing check helps you stay aware of changes and protect your hearing long term.

Making hearing health part of your yearly routine can help you hear your best all year long.

Did you know diabetes can also impact your hearing health?

Studies show people with diabetes are twice as likely to experience hearing loss. High blood sugar levels can damage the tiny blood vessels and nerves in the inner ear, reducing your ability to hear clearly over time.

The good news? Regular hearing checkups can help detect early changes and protect your hearing for the long run.

This month, take charge of your total health — schedule both your annual health screening and your hearing evaluation.

Our commitment to you.....

I have been an Audiologist for over 30 years and I have been fortunate enough to help thousands of people hear better over those years. I still am thrilled every time someone tells me what a difference I have made in their life. Technology is getting better but a personal approach to assisting someone with their hearing is still so important and what makes a difference to someone’s success. Thank you for trusting me with your hearing. I promise we will work tirelessly with you on your journey to better hearing.
