In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the incredible women who make our MorningStar communities so special. 💐

Meet Dorothy Foster, a resident with a beautifully diverse international background who has lived in multiple countries and speaks several languages. One of Dorothy’s favorite memories began while working for NASA as a math aide, where she met her husband, an aeronautical scientist. She still remembers him coming home and telling her that seeing her was “the best part of his day.”

Dorothy later spent more than 20 years living in Europe, experiencing different cultures and hearing powerful stories that helped shape her outlook on life.
Her advice to younger generations is simple but powerful:

✨ “Say it like it is and be strong. You have to say what you want and don’t be shy or worry about being too ‘ladylike.’”

From childhood days horseback riding and searching for “treasure” to a life full of travel and discovery, Dorothy continues to inspire everyone around her.
We’re so grateful to celebrate Dorothy this Women’s History Month and the wisdom she brings to our community.

In honor of National Nutrition Month, we’re celebrating the incredible culinary teams across MorningStar who nourish our residents with care, creativity, and heart. 👨‍🍳💚

Chef Shiloh from MorningStar of Westgate beautifully shared what makes her work so meaningful:
"I love cooking for the residents at MorningStar Senior Living because food is more than a meal—it is comfort, care, and connection. Preparing dishes for them allows me to bring joy, spark memories, and create moments that make their day a little brighter. Seeing their smiles and knowing that the food I prepare supports their health and happiness gives my work a deeper purpose. For me, cooking is not just a profession—it is a way to show kindness, dignity, and respect to the people I serve."

We are grateful for the passion our chefs bring to the table each day, creating meals that nourish both body and spirit.

MorningStar at The Canyons had the honor of celebrating a truly special milestone—Mickye’s 100th birthday! 🎉

The celebration was filled with laughter, love, live music, and so many wonderful moments shared with our community.

Residents at MorningStar at Holly Park have been having a great time in their MorningStar University course, Thursday Murder Club! 🔎

Inspired by the popular book and film, this fun and interactive class turns residents into detectives as they work together to solve fictional mystery cases. Through clues, discussion, and teamwork, participants put their problem-solving skills to the test in a relaxed and social setting—no experience needed, just curiosity and a love for a good mystery.

So far, residents have loved the excitement of following the clues and working together to crack the case!

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the remarkable women who make our MorningStar communities so special. 💐

Meet Jackie, a resident at MorningStar at Observatory Park and a lifelong piano player, athlete, and passionate advocate for democracy. Originally from Detroit, Jackie earned her teaching degree from Michigan State University and later a master’s in Social Studies Education from CU Boulder. She spent 30 years teaching 8th grade civics, inspiring generations of students to understand and participate in democracy.

After retiring, Jackie co-founded the Center for Education in Law and Democracy (CELD), a nonprofit that connects students with opportunities to engage in the democratic process.

Here at MorningStar, Jackie is known for her beautiful piano playing, often performing with the Sunshine Singers and for our Reflections residents. Her dedication is especially inspiring as she has been living with Parkinson’s disease for 15 years.

Her advice for younger generations:
✨ “Learn what it means to live in democracy. You must participate.”

🔥 Executive Director vs. Executive Chef Cookoff! 🍽️
Things got deliciously competitive at MorningStar University at MorningStar Parker when their Executive Director and Executive Chef went head-to-head in a friendly cookoff!

🥘 Dish #1: Caribbean Jerk Chicken with Red Beans & Rice—bold, spicy island flavors.
🍝 Dish #2: Shrimp Linguine with Cherry Tomatoes & Spinach—fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced.

Residents enjoyed tasting both dishes while learning about the history and inspiration behind each recipe.

And the winner?
The room was unanimous… both dishes were equally delicious!

Meet Jean, a resident and lifelong lover of dancing and all things sparkly. Originally from New Jersey, Jean enjoys staying busy with crafting classes, flower arranging, and decorating her home.

Jean once ran her own shop out of her home, where she worked as both a seamstress and event planner, bringing new life to secondhand formalwear and wedding gowns. Her creativity and imagination were nurtured by her parents from a young age—something she remains deeply grateful for, as she believes it opened many doors and opportunities throughout her life.

Jean also has a sweet tooth for chocolate and a soft spot for Frank Sinatra. 🎶

Her advice for others:
✨ “Nothing is impossible! You think about it. You dream it. You live it.” ✨
