To meet the demand of our customers, Straight Flight, Inc., has built one of the region's most fully equipped composite shops designed with aircraft in mind. These unique and lightweight components are used in a wide range of applications in the aviation and aerospace industry. With our new facility and highly experiened technicians we are able to fabricate and repair various component parts using the following methods:
Wet Lay-up lamination panels - Fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar
Wet lay -up sandwich panels - Fiberglass with foam core, and carbon fiber and Kevlar with honeycomb core. Prepreg lamination panels – Fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar
Prepreg sandwich panels - Fiberglass with foam core, and carbon fiber and Kevlar with honeycomb core
Metal bonding - Hot and cold bond fabrication and repairs. Damage to a composite component is not always visible to the naked eye and the extent of damage is best determined using suitable nondestructive testing (NDT) methods. Types of composite NDT inspections Straight Flight can provide are ultrasound, X-ray, light table and tap test. Repairs to aircraft structures are controlled and executed according to the manufacture's Structural Repair Manual (SRM). On the occasion when there is no approved procedure in the SRM Straight Flight utilizes FAA designated engineering representatives (DERs) to ensure repairs meet or exceed original manufacture specifications. Straight Flight produces superb composite products and repairs at a cost much less than that of the aircraft manufacture. If your aircraft has been damaged and you want an FAA certified shop, with a Class 1 Composite Airframe repair rating to do the work, please contact us and allow us to quote this project for you!
