Happy National Sibling Day 🤍

Siblings are often our first relationships. Our earliest experiences of love, conflict, repair, and learning how to exist alongside another person.

In therapy, we often explore how those early dynamics can continue to show up in our adult relationships in subtle and powerful ways. So much of our attachment, communication, and boundary-setting begins right there in those first connections.

There’s a lot of healing that can happen when we can look back with curiosity instead of judgment.

Animal-assisted therapy isn’t just cute…It can help lower stress responses, support nervous system regulation, increase engagement in sessions, and create a sense of safety that makes it easier to process hard things.

Sometimes healing looks like being deeply understood… and sometimes it starts with simply not feeling alone in the room 🤍

Therapy isn’t always sitting across from each other talking…

Today a client and I made magic wands. ✨

Through play and creativity we practiced shifting our mindset when the pattern didn’t turn out the way we hoped, using flexible thinking to put together combinations we weren’t sure would work, and tackling the task of cleaning up what felt like a million beads by sorting them back into their containers.

We also practiced something just as important: ASKING FOR HELP.

Sometimes the most meaningful work in therapy happens in moments that look a lot like play.

Play creates space for some of the most powerful learning in therapy.

Now I get to hold space for people’s stories, witness their healing, and remind them they deserve softness, boundaries, and a life that feels good to live.

In April, clients will be greeted by four paws, tail wags, and a whole lot of unconditional support 🐾

Guinness is joining the office as a therapy dog, and I already know she’s going to help create moments of safety, regulation, and connection in ways words sometimes can’t.

Healing doesn’t always happen through talking, sometimes it happens through being gently reminded that you’re not alone.

STOP IT RIGHT NOW MISS GUINNESS IS A CANINE GOOD CITIZEN!!! 😭🐾🎓

I am SO beyond proud of this girl and all the hard work she’s put in. She has truly shown what it looks like to be a focused, gentle, and eager learner. And she’s only just getting started.

Next stop: pass the therapy dog intensive pre-screen.
Final stop: therapy dog workshop.

I cannot wait to have her alongside me supporting my clients in sessions and showing up for my students at school. The comfort, regulation, and connection she’s going to help create is something really special. So grateful for this sweet, smart pup and the journey we’re on together. 🤍🐶✨

My practice is a space for BIPOC clients, undocumented clients, and LGBTQ+ clients to be seen, protected, and supported. Always. 🖤

I’ll be sharing information soon about free and low-cost groups to support folks navigating the overwhelm, fear, anger, and grief many of us are holding right now. You deserve space to process — in community, not in isolation.

Advanced training ✔️

Up next: Canine good citizenship test, a pre screening, and a therapy dog workshop.

Guinness is only 8 months old and already crushing it. 🐶✨. I can’t wait to offer this extra layer of support to my clients this spring/summer.

Guinness update 🐾💛: she’s officially over halfway through her advanced training class! She’s learning so much and we’ll begin her intensive therapy-dog training in March. If everything continues to go well, she’ll be supporting clients by this summer — and I truly can’t wait. 🌼
