I never expected to witness a full coaching session while sitting at a nail salon. But I did.
❌ No confidentiality.
❌ No discretion.
❌ No regard for the client’s privacy.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time I’ve witnessed this kind of behavior.
As a trauma-informed practitioner who also trains, certifies, and mentors practitioners in neuroscience-based approaches to healing, I take the therapeutic relationship seriously.
Mental health work is sacred. It requires presence, professionalism, and protection of the client’s emotional safety.
Yes, I was aggravated. But more importantly, I was concerned.
To those seeking support from a coach, therapist, or holistic practitioner:
You have every right to ask questions before you commit.
✅ How are sessions conducted?
✅ Where will they take place?
✅ Will your privacy be honored?
Vetting the help you receive is not only wise, it’s necessary. Your healing journey deserves a safe, focused, and confidential space.
And to my colleagues in this work:
If you’re feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed, or distracted, take the time to care for your own mental health, too. This work demands it. Your clients deserve your presence. And so do you.
Let’s raise the bar, not lower the boundary. Integrity isn’t optional. It’s foundational.
