A simple gesture can make all the difference. đź’™

Brandon Coffey, DO, has been named Physician of the Quarter — an honor driven by the voices of patients he’s cared for.

One patient shared:
“From the moment he walked in, his calming and caring demeanor was everything. He sat down next to me, and in that moment, I knew he cared.”

After returning for a second visit:
“He came in, knew who I was, sat down and we came up with a plan together. It made all the difference. I truly believe his compassion significantly helped in my recovery.”

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Coffey on this well-deserved recognition — and on his new role as medical director of our Emergency Department, overseeing both HCA Florida Englewood Hospital and HCA Florida Wellen Park Emergency.

Thank you, Dr. Coffey, for leading with compassion.

🎉Our HCA Florida Wellen Park Emergency team is celebrating our first year anniversary! 🎉

✨In just 12 months, our team has treated nearly 3,500 patients — providing fast, lifesaving care close to home when it matters most.

For local restaurateur Darel Albin, that care made all the difference. While driving through the Wellen Park residential area, Albin experienced chest tightness and shallow breathing. Having survived two previous heart attacks, he recognized the warning signs and went to HCA Florida Wellen Park Emergency. Within minutes, he was receiving the care he needed. Today, he’s back on his feet and preparing to open La Maison, a new restaurant in Downtown Wellen Park.

Stories like Darel’s are why we’re here — and why access to emergency care close to home matters.

🚑In its first year, the facility received more than 550 EMS transports. It cared for more than 375 pediatric patients, along with 350 cardiac and stroke cases. Head injuries were among the most frequently treated conditions. On average, patients were seen by a provider in just five minutes from arrival. This emergency room is a part of HCA Florida Englewood Hospital and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with full-service emergency care.

🙌🏽Thank you to our community for trusting us with your care this past year.

At HCA Florida Englewood Hospital, putting people first isn’t just a phrase — it’s how we care for our patients every day.

Each week, our food and nutrition services manager, Michael, visits patients with a comfort cart, offering more than snacks — he brings conversation, compassion and connection. His efforts have inspired leaders across the hospital to join in, showing that every role plays a part in the patient experience.

One of those leaders is Carolyn, our very first hospital employee. After 40 years of service, she recently stepped beyond her usual role to connect directly with patients at the bedside — a powerful reminder that care starts with people.

Together, Michael and Carolyn are helping create meaningful moments that make a difference.

Watch their story and see how small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness about prevention, early detection, and life-saving screenings.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers, but when detected early, it is highly treatable. Regular screenings can help find precancerous polyps before they turn into cancer or catch cancer at an early stage when treatment is most effective.

At HCA Florida Healthcare, we are committed to educating our community about the importance of knowing your risk factors, recognizing symptoms, and talking to your doctor about when to begin screening. For most adults, screening begins at age 45 and it could save your life.

This month, we encourage you to have the conversation, schedule your screening, and remind those you love to do the same. Early detection saves lives.
