☀ Signs & Symptoms
- Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive disorder, which means symptoms worsen over time. Common motor symptoms include: tremors, rigidity, stiffness, slowness, and impaired balance and coordination. Individuals with Parkinson’s may also exhibit difficulty speaking and/or swallowing.

☀ Diagnosis
- Parkinson’s may be difficult to diagnose because there is no specific diagnostic assessment. Instead, diagnosis is made based upon the presence and/or absence of PD symptoms.

☀ Treatment
- There is no cure for Parkinson’s Disease, instead, treatment is focused on management of symptoms. Medications exist and act to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life. Some, although less common, may qualify for surgery. Treatment for most patients will include ongoing physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy.

* Once you have scheduled the test and know how long you have to prepare - set up a calendar and create a studying timeline based on your test date.

* Follow whatever works for you. Some people do better memorizing concepts, while others may need to write out and visualize information.

* Use study guides such as this one https://medicalslps.com/speech-therapy-materials/materials/speech-language-pathology-slp-praxis-study-guide/ by medical SLPs and take practice tests (ETS has the most realistic practice test)

* Try to use your clinical knowledge as much as possible! Sometimes your clinical knowledge can help you solution through to the correct answer.

* Keep your mind clear and your brain healthy - stay hydrated, eat whole foods, exercise, stretch, meditate, get enough sleep, etc.
