What is subluxation?

A subluxation is a partial dislocation of a joint, where the bones are misaligned but still in contact with each other. Unlike a complete dislocation, the bones in a subluxation may partially slip out of place and then move back into position on their own, or require medical intervention to correct. They commonly occur in the spine but can also affect other joints like the shoulder, knee, or elbow.
