*Retirement Notice*
After many years of walking alongside families through one of life‘s most sacred journeys, I am officially retiring from active midwifery.
What does that mean? It means I will be keeping my license *actively retired* in the event I should be called back into service at some point in the future (such as my daughters having their babies), but I will no longer take new clients. I will however be available to teach/mentor student midwives, and serve other midwives in their day to day needs.
This was a very difficult decision to make, but as I’ve settled into it I realize just how much I am looking forward to a more scheduled life and to be able to be present for my family going forward. Midwifery truly is a calling from God. I’ve often said it’s a “beautiful burden” simply because of the strain and toll it takes on your entire being… and your family.
*I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I’ll carry this calling with me always.*
I will never forget the countless births, the courage I’ve witnessed, and the trust so many of you placed in me during such tender and powerful moments. Each of you has left an imprint on my heart, and I carry those memories with deep gratitude. Some memories we can laugh about today as we reminisce…. Some memories I carry the grief of to remind me of reasons to grow.
To all of my former patients and families-
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your story. If you feel moved to share a note, a memory or even a photo, I would truly love to hear from you as I close this chapter and step into the next.
With love, gratitude and unending respect,
Midwife Gretchen
