Four Chaplains Day honors the four chaplains aboard the SS Dorchester during WWII. The Dorchester, a troop ship carrying approximately 900, was struck by a German U-boat on February 3, 1943. The 4 Chaplains were a Methodist minister, Reformed Church minister, a Rabbi, and a Catholic Priest. After handing out out all of the remaining life jackets to the soldiers and helping them board the lifeboats, the 4 chaplains linked arms, sang hymns, and said prayers as they went down with the ship. May they rest in peace.

Ronald Louis Scipioni, 82, passed away on January 30, 2026. He was born on August 3, 1943, in Myerstown, Pennsylvania, and lived a life defined by service, humor, and unwavering authenticity.

Ron was a proud United States Air Force veteran who went on to attend Penn State University, where he began a lifelong career as a Certified Public Accountant. Ron took great pride in his work and was known for his sharp mind, precision, and attention to detail both personally and professionally.

Above all, Ron was unapologetically himself—no matter the situation. He was notably witty, endlessly funny, and always ready with a perfectly timed remark.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: long breakfasts, great Italian food, action movies, hours spent watching the History Channel, and as many trips to the beach as he could fit in each summer.

His children will always remember him for his classic culinary delights —buttered noodles with a vegetable, Beefaroni, - and- of course, his love for McDonald’s.

A devoted sports fan, Ron passionately followed the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies—until they lost. Then he would turn off the TV and vow never to watch again.

Ron was also instantly recognizable by his signature attire: suspenders, a white T-shirt, and sneakers—a look as unique and authentic as the man himself. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Carol, and his cherished daughters, Christy, Pamela, and Jade. He was a proud father-in-law to Jason and Kevin, and an adoring grandfather to Alyssa, William, Landon, and Parker, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11AM at Sullivan Funeral Home, 51 North Enola Drive, Enola, Pennsylvania 17025. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 10AM-11AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1PM.

Ronald Louis Scipioni will be remembered as a devoted family man who remained passionate in his ideas, opinions, and beliefs for all his days.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Scipioni family.
