Today, we’d like to honor another amazing youth in our area. Kelson Hill was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma at the age of six. A soft tissue tumor that popped up rapidly in his neck. He went through 43 rounds of chemo and 28 rounds of radiation before ringing the bell in August 2015. Kelson’s treatment was very hard on his little body, and there were times when his family didn’t know if he would be able to fight through both the chemo and radiation together. He finished treatment weighing a whopping 30 pounds.

He has been in remission for 11 years and still deals with the lasting effects of his treatment. Kelson has continued to push through the challenges and is grateful for survival. While Kelson spent many hours in a hospital room, he found a new love for drawing, especially Mario. He continues to draw and is always improving and has now gotten into digital art and coding. His dream is to create a video game that may one day influence and help someone the way Mario has for him. Just this month he created and released a short video game for people to play that he has been working on. He is a senior at Enterprise high school and this year’s yearbook editor, and has big plans for his future. Kelson has a big heart, and since treatment, he has continued to help lift others up when life seems to get in the way, breathing belief and hope to them that anything is possible. Finding his incredible talent for drawing during a dark time is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing Kelson!

Today we honor Cash Adams. Cash is the son of Tyler and Christy Adams and was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor at 2 1/2 years old. This is a rare type of kidney cancer that primarily affects children. He was life flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital where he underwent 6 surgeries to remove his tumor and entire left kidney. They said the tumor was the size of a cantaloupe.

He went through chemo and radiation for 2 weeks followed by chemotherapy for another 8 months. He’s been cancer free 14 years now and is doing great. He recently finished a great season playing football for the Wolves. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who helped get him through this. Having known Cash for a while, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a smile on his face!

Today we honor Eric Jones. In April of 2021 he was diagnosed with stage 4 Large B-cell NonHodgkins Lymphoma. His oncologist planned a treatment of 12 rounds, administered every 3 weeks, of a very strong chemotherapy regimen known as R-CHOP.

Thankfully, the treatment was successful enough to have only needed 6 treatments. He was then prescribed 20 rounds of radiation to eradicate the two tumors that were located on his left hip and lower back. In October of that year his treatments ended and it has thankfully been in remission since.

Eric is a shining example of not only battling a difficult cancer but in not slowing down in the meantime. He pushed ahead helping many people during his battle despite going through a very difficult trial! Thank you for sharing Eric!

Today we’d like to honor Steven Humphries. At the age of 12 he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) Cancer. He went through 3 1/2 years of Chemotherapy with the first 9 months of that being weekly chemo treatments. Throughout chemo he had many complications and had to relearn how to walk, talk, eat, and many other things. There were times throughout chemotherapy that many people didn’t know if he would make it. He is happy to be alive and cancer free but many of the complications that he faced during chemotherapy have had lasting effects that Steven still deals with today. He was told that more than likely he would not be able to have children but he is now happily married and has a beautiful little miracle daughter! Steven is a beautiful example of humility and strength through difficult times. Thank you for sharing!

If you know anyone in our community that needs to be honored. Please give us a call, wed love to post about them.

This one hits close to home as he’s my oldest brother. Dallin Bracken was diagnosed with a 6.5 cm germ cell tumor (like the one Lance Armstrong had) just below his pancreas incidentally found on a routine CT scan. While usually a cancer that spreads, luckily his had not. From his diagnosis in May 2023 he underwent 32 trips to Reno, had 18 Dr appointments, 4 ct scans, 2 pet scans, 2 major surgical procedures at the University of California at San Francisco, and spent 105 hours in the chemo chair undergoing intense chemotherapy causing him to lose all his hair. He says he has a different perspective about life and has found a new sense of purpose taking advantage of being active and healthy. Since being declared cancer-free he has found a new lease on life and has completed 9 short course triathlons with a half Ironman coming up at the end of this year. He is an amazing example of making the most of an awful situation and never stopping! Thanks Dallin for sharing your story!

Today we honor Jessica Terry. In August 2018, shortly after finding out she was pregnant with her second child, she was diagnosed with a very rare form of Lymphoma wrapped around her spinal cord causing excruciating pain. After losing all feeling in her lower extremities she was rushed to emergency surgery leaving her unable to walk, unable to continue the pregnancy and dealing with the devastating news of having cancer. She spent the next 9 months in intense inpatient chemotherapy all while learning to walk again. Following more treatment and radiation she was finally declared cancer free with a 50% chance of it coming back in 5 years. That 5 year mark came and went in June of 2024! She is grateful to be cancer free, but still lives with the devastating effects the cancer had on her body. She says she is “so blessed to still be here for my family!” Talk about an amazing attitude! Thank you for sharing with us Jessica!
