Mr. William B. Paulk passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He was 63 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise, Alabama with Reverend Kevin Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00pm and continuing until service time.

William was born in Donalsonville, Georgia, on June 16, 1962, to the late James A. Paulk and Nelda Jean Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Paulk, and sister, Connie Paulk.

Most people shortened his name to Bill, but those who really knew him called him Mushy, a nickname born from an old western TV series, Rawhide, and carried with pride throughout his life.

He found his greatest peace on the water, casting a line and waiting patiently for that familiar tug that always made him smile. Fishing wasn’t just a hobby for him; it was his joy, his quiet place. On fall Saturdays, you could count on him cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide in his cut off jean shorts and bare feet. In his younger years, he poured his heart into restoring old muscle cars. He was a mechanic by trade, but also by passion.

When life grew heavy, he leaned a lot on God in prayer something he talked about often. And even in the hardest moments, he had a way of easing the weight with his favorite saying from his momma: “Don’t worry, it will all come out in the wash.” It was his way of saying that hope still had a place, even when the world felt dark or uncertain.

He appreciated the simple things in life and never missed a chance to share a cherished memory or a funny story. He loved his family with his whole heart, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He treasured those Sunday calls with his daughter, catching up on the week and offering a life lesson or two before ending with, “I love you, kiddo.” He was deeply loved and will always be remembered for his unique laugh and powder‑blue eyes.

Mushy is survived by his daughters, Ambria Barber (Chris) of Headland and Katherine Paulk; brother, Kenneth Paulk of Enterprise; grandchildren, Shelby and Connor Barber and Tristen and Elijah Reeves; and nephew, Jamie Paulk.

Is Cremation the right choice for you? Consider these when making a decision:
1) Cremation opens up more options, not less. When you choose cremation, you can still choose service and celebration of life options. You get to decide how cremated remains are dispersed: scattering, urn placement, burial and more.
2) Cremation is a permanent decision. It’s best to think through this decision, and be sure it discuss it with your loved ones.
3) Some religions and denominations have different views on cremation as a final disposition. If a religious funeral is a priority for you, make sure you know your religion’s stance on cremation.
4) Cremation is still a relatively new choice and therefore concerns arise regarding respect of the body and respect for cremated remains. It’s important to note that only the highest standards exist for cremation, just like burial.

Max Earl Waters, 93, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away on Christmas Day, 2025. Max was born in Level Plains, Alabama, on April 25, 1932, to Obetus J. Waters and Eva Pearl Waters (Bradley).
Graveside services will be held at First Baptist Church Level Plains on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 2:30 PM with Reverend Hubert McWaters officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. A visitation will be held on Friday in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.

Max graduated from Enterprise High School, Enterprise, Alabama, in 1950. After high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably in the Korean War. He was a member of the “Mosquitos”, an elite group, reported on by CBS newscaster, Edward R. Murrow. Max served as ground support, inside enemy lines, mapping locations of enemy positions, and relaying the information to T-6 Airborne. A Korean War news report stated, “The most dangerous job of the Korean War is given to the T-6 Airborne and ground crews.” … (Max would probably say, “Compared to taking the position of Principal at OHS, in 1964, it was a piece of cake!)

Max also served as a Medic, Administration Supervisor, and a Senior Radiology Specialist. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (T)1. During his service, Max was awarded the following: United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.

Upon returning from Korea, he met the love of his life, Julia Elizabeth Williams, and they were married on September 1, 1953. Max then attended Troy State University, on the G.I. Bill, where he also received his Masters Degree in Business Administration. He then embarked on a career in education. Max began his career as a high school teacher in Carrabelle, Florida. After 3 years, he became principal of the same school. At the time, Max was the youngest principal in the state of Florida.

In 1964, Max received a call to interview for the position of Principal of Osceola High School, Kissimmee, Florida. He accepted the position and served as Principal of OHS for the next 10 years. Max would say his days as Principal at OHS were some of the most challenging, memorable, and rewarding of his career. His students would say the same! They would also say, upon his departure, Max left OHS a better educational institution and made a memorable and positive impact on their lives.

Max also served as Principal of Highlands Elementary and Reedy Creek Elementary. In 1982, Max was planning Principal for Boggy Creek Elementary.

In 1984, Max successfully ran a campaign for Superintendent of Schools for Osceola County. Max would retire from this position after one term. This would end his career in education.
Max remained heavily involved in politics in Osceola County. He managed and advised many successful campaigns across a gamut of offices for many years.

Max’s “second career” was in residential building, which he thoroughly enjoyed for the next 15 years.

Max served as a Deacon of Neptune Road Baptist Church, for many decades, with the same passion of all his lifetime endeavors. He loved Jesus Christ his Savior and was a “true and faithful servant”.

Of the many accomplishments and successes in his life, not one brought him more joy, pleasure, and love than his family. He was totally devoted to his wife, Julia, his children, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We were, each one, blessed beyond measure to call this man, “Husband”, “Daddy”, and “Papa”. What a reunion and celebration there was in Heaven on Christmas Day, 2025. Until we see you there, We Love You and Miss You Always.

Max is preceded in death by his wife, Julia. He is survived by his children, Beverly Robinson (Harry) of Pebble Beach, CA, and David Waters (Teresa) of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Mendy Riddle (Troy), Connor Janzen, Tim Waters, and J. Waters (Bailey); and great-grandchildren, Melany Waters, Emmy Kayte Riddle, Rookie Waters, and Wrigley Waters.

Margaret Odom Wesley, age 89, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love for family.

Margaret was born on August 16, 1936, in Black, Alabama. She grew up learning the value of hard work at an early age as the daughter of sharecroppers. Those early years shaped her character and instilled in her a deep appreciation for perseverance and diligence.

She had a love for strawberries, wildflowers, crossword puzzles, and great stories—interests that led to a lifelong love of reading. Margaret also enjoyed ice cream; strawberry ice cream was the best; and spending time in the sun. No matter the season of life, she remained a hard worker who poured herself into everything she did.

Margaret loved her husband deeply and, above all, loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a devoted member of Faithview Church. One of her greatest joys was caring for her family, especially through cooking. Her banana pudding was well known and dearly loved by family and friends alike.

Margaret attended Troy University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree an accomplishment she valued greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Evonne Odom, Betty Odom, and Anne Marie Rhoten; as well as her brother, McNeil Odom.

She is survived by her children, Richard Moore, David Barrentine (Amy), Teresa Forehand (Charlie), and Charlotte Macomber; fourteen grandchildren, Cierra (Tarmar), Nikki (Devin), Ashley, Alexandria, Emma, Makayla, Madison, Christian, Landon, Amanda, Wade, Makenna, Kaiden, and Jonas; seventeen great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joe Odom, Raymond Odom, and Lex Odom; and her sister, Bessie Randal.

Margaret Odom Wesley will be remembered for her strong faith, tireless work ethic, love for learning, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until 2 PM.
