TRUTH:
Some people think all Physical Therapy consists of is stretching and exercises. While it does consist of exercises, it is actually a comprehensive treatment which includes several different types of therapeutic interventions we use treat your symptoms and improve your quality of life. Here at ETC, we utilize manual therapy, which is a variety of hands-on techniques our therapists use to improve your range of motion and/or decrease pain. For pain management: we offer dry needling, electrical stimulation (TENS), traction for neck and back pain, and more. When it comes to therapy sessions, another crucial thing our therapists do is patient education to improve patient independence with exercises or other functional activities when they are no longer coming to therapy. We teach you why you’re hurting, how to move safely, and what you can do at home to heal and prevent future injuries. Our goal is to decrease your pain and also improve overall movement and quality of life. We tailor each treatment session to your needs, and do our best to make each session a unique one that is worth your time.
Now, onto the importance of exercises and stretches:
Staying consistent with your exercises is what’s going to help you the most in the long-run. Doing so allows you to regain strength and range of motion to help reduce your pain and/or stiffness, with the goal of improving your function. Exercise can also aid in preventing future injuries and improve your quality of life. One of our biggest priorities when it comes to treating our patients at ETC, is for you to regain your function and be able to perform daily activities better than before. Consistency is key, and our top priority is to return a patient to a safe, pain-free level of movement and independence with a home exercise program when you are done seeing us.
