Gertrud’s world has expanded dramatically since her HF10 trial and implant. “I am no longer stuck in the house because of debilitating pain,” Gertrud said. “I am out living my life and even trying to go back to work!”

“In spite of pain that started 25 years ago, when I lived in Germany I was walking 6-9 miles daily. Over time pain made that impossible,” Gertrud explained. “Eventually I even had to give up my business administration job.”

In 2018 Gertrud consulted Dr. Robert Hannahan, who treated her with quarterly injections and opioid pain medication. Then in 2020 Dr. Hannahan recommended an HF10 trial to reduce the pain in Gertrud’s lower back and right hip and also reduce her need for opioids. The successful trial, which took place in late January 2020, was followed by her implant a month later.

“I am feeling so much better physically and emotionally,” Gertrud said. “Now I can clean my house, wash my car, go on long walks again and sleep through the night.” Gertrud is also taking 50% less pain medication. “With the reduction in opioids I am living life with greater awareness and a much clearer mind.”
