Update from the City of Buckley regarding the Foothills Bridge.
Enumclaw Community Forum FB page has more frequent updates.
๐ง White River Bridge Update ๐ง
The City of Buckley has intentionally refrained from posting frequent updates to avoid sharing rumors or misinformation. Please know that we have been in daily meetingsโincluding over the weekendโwith our partners at the City of Enumclaw, Washington, Pierce County, King County, and WSDOT. Like you, we are eager for answers and to see this critical connection restored.
๐ Important reminder: WSDOT has requested to be the sole source of official information related to the bridge. Please follow their page for updates. At this time, there is no timeline for reopening. We understand how frustrating this is and greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.
๐ถ Foothills Trail Bridge Access
Hundreds of people are using the Foothills Trail bridge daily to commute between Buckley and Enumclaw.
Public Parking Locations (see map):
1๏ธโฃ Buckley Log Show Grounds โ 344 N River Ave
2๏ธโฃ Buckley Armory โ 455 N River Ave (Unavailable 10/6โ10/12 & 11/1โ11/26)
3๏ธโฃ Buckley Dog Park โ 475 N River Ave (Very limited)
4๏ธโฃ Foothills Trailhead โ Access off 410 & Jefferson St
5๏ธโฃ Buckley Youth Center โ 251 S River Ave
Street parking on River Ave is also available. For safety, street parking along River will be restricted to one side only.
๐จ Regardless of where you park, we request that all pedestrians, scooters, etc. make their way directly to the trail and avoid walking in the roadway or right-of-way. This is for your safety and the safety of drivers.
๐ The City of Enumclaw is working on a similar parking plan and will share their details soon.
๐ Transit & Shuttle Efforts
We are actively working with our partners to explore the possibility of a public shuttle system to connect our communities via the Foothills Trail bridge. If/when that system is established, parking availability may be further adjusted to accommodate shuttle use. We will share updates as soon as they are available.
Additionally, both Enumclaw and Buckley are exploring the possibility of bike/scooter rentals through a third-party provider.
๐ก Trail Safety
๐ฆ King County has illuminated the bridge.
๐ฆ Buckley, in partnership with Pierce County, is working on illuminating the trail on the Buckley side. In the meantime, please bring flashlights and headlamps.
๐ฆ Equestrian traffic, e-bikes, and electric scooters are permitted.
๐ฆ Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail or bridge. Golf carts are classified as motorized vehicles under state law and County codes, and therefore are not allowed.
๐ฆ For everyoneโs safety: once you exit your vehicle, please head directly to the trail and do not walk along the roadway or right-of-way.
We know this closure has created major challenges for thousands of people each day. While the City of Buckley cannot solve this on our own, we are grateful for the strong partnership of King County, Pierce County, the City of Enumclaw, and WSDOT as we all work together to keep our communities connected. Thank you for your patience and support. ๐
