In honor of Father's Day, let's talk about the dad's role in childbirth…

1. A growing body of evidence is making it clear that fathers who are engaged in pregnancy and birth are more likely to remain engaged in their children's lives.

2. A couple experiencing the birth of their child together, can have the potential to draw them closer in their relationship.

3. Having an engaged partner during childbirth can decrease anxiety for the mother and create a more positive effect on the outcome.

Another awesome part of my job as a birth doula is to show partners how to offer hands-on support to you during labor.

They always want to help, but they're not quite sure what to do!

(If this is you👆🏼, Dad, I got you! I'm here to support you, supporting the mother.)

As your birth doula, I'll offer tips and tricks that your partner can try to provide hands-on support to you throughout labor.

It's never my intention to take over.

It's my job to help partners be involved even more.

What did your partner do that felt good during labor? Tell me in the comments!👇🏻

Pregnancy can be such an exciting time, but can also be very challenging with lots of questions and decisions to make as you anticipate your baby’s birthday.
As a doula, I’m here to bring you as much support as I can educationally, offering knowledge, research, and whatever else is necessary to help you make informed decisions throughout your pregnancy.

Hey there! I’m Abbie.

I wish to help you decide what kind of goals you would like if you haven't already decided. I am also here to support you mentally and emotionally throughout your birth and postpartum journey.

I'm here to help you acknowledge how amazing your body was created and that YOU and your body already have everything you need to naturally birth and nurture your baby[s]. If you chose a homebirth that is more comfortable, peaceful, and quiet, I will support you.
If you feel more comfortable with a birthing center or hospital, I will be there for you as well.

My desire is to help you to feel confidant and at peace as you walk into birth and motherhood!

Birth is such an amazing thing that God created our bodies to do and can be a beautiful and empowering experience!!!

“I’d love to have a homebirth but I’m going to deliver at a hospital… just in case.”

1) Homebirth midwives are medically trained professionals, highly qualified and equipped with the skills needed to handle an emergency and knowing when to transfer.

2) The homebirth midwife that you’re scared of being under-qualified has probably seen more natural, physiological births in a one month timeframe than the typical OB has in their entire career.

3) The emergencies and trauma you’re trying to avoid are more likely to happen within a hospital setting because they have such a high rate of medically unnecessary interventions, leading to the cascade of interventions.

*Women should birth where they feel the most comfortable but we also need to remove the fear and stigma from homebirth because it’s a safe and valid option*

This! This is why movement during labor is SO VERY IMPORTANT!

See how the pelvis moves and adjusts based on mama's position? This movement of the ligaments and adjustments of the varying diameters of the pelvis is crucial to baby's descent and birth into this world through that bony structure! Check out the video link below!

What are some positions you found helpful in labor?

Kissing your baby changes your breast milk. Did you know that the undeniable urge to cover your baby in kisses serves a biological purpose? When a mother kisses her baby, she samples the pathogens on baby’s face, which then travel to mom’s lymphatic system. Mom’s body then creates antibodies to fight those pathogens, which baby receives through breast milk. What?! Amazing, right?
