Get Your Body Ready Before You Hit the Pickleball Court! 🏓

A quick warm-up and a few simple stretches can help improve mobility, activate your muscles, and reduce the risk of injury before your game.

Try this quick routine before your next match:

Warm-Up (10–15 reps each):
- Hip Swings - Swing each leg forward/backward and side to side to loosen the hips.
- Lateral Lunges - Step to the side, bend one knee while keeping the other leg straight, then push back to standing.

Stretches (Hold 30 seconds, repeat 3–5 times per side):

- Quad Stretch - Gently pull your foot toward your glutes to stretch the front of your thigh.
- Lower Trunk Rotation Stretch - Lying on your back with knees bent, rotate your knees to one side while keeping your shoulders down.
- Open Book Stretch - Lying on your side with knees bent, open your top arm across your body and follow it with your eyes.

Taking just a few minutes to prepare your body can help you move better on the court and keep you playing longer.

She earned her bachelor’s in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of New Hampshire and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of New England.

Specializing in oncology rehabilitation and pelvic health, she is committed to helping patients regain strength, confidence, and quality of life through compassionate, whole-body care.

Dr. Valerie is a certified ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation therapist with advanced pelvic health training and Level 1 dry needling certification.

Dr. Lizer graduated with honors from Tulane University, completing a combined MD/Master of Public Health program in just four years.

She completed her radiology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, serving as chief resident, and specialized in breast imaging through a fellowship at Brigham.
