I loved this book as a child. However, it’s hard to read this book as an adult and not cringe. It’s a great story — but it’s definitely NOT heartwarming to watch a lonely, love-starved tree being systematically dismantled by a self-serving human from whom it so desperately wants companionship.
Relationships ought to be mutually fulfilling.

There are many women who have spent their lives wondering, “what is wrong with me?” Unfortunately, many of them still get misdiagnosed with anxiety and/or depression (which are commonly experienced in those who have flown under the radar, struggling in silence — but often distract clinicians from seeing the original problem). If you have ever suspected that you may suffer from ADHD, seek out a mental health professional for an evaluation. It is not just a children’s diagnosis. It does not disappear in adulthood.
