Summer Payer, LMT

Summer Payer, LMT Licensed and practicing since mid 2013. I'm passionate about helping people to recover and to stay relaxed and pain free.

I love talking about massage therapy, so any and all questions are welcome. I've been in private practice at West Lake Professional building since January 2016. Before going out on my own I was employed by Ambridge Rose Day Spa, Rolland Chiropractic, Stonehouse English Teahouse and Spa, and Edinboro Chiropractic, all of which were excellent learning experiences that greatly contributed to the quality of care Summer I'm able to offer today. In the spring of 2013, I graduated the 1080 clock-hour massage therapy diploma program at Great Lakes Institute of Technology, and am nationally certified, and PA State licensed, as well as certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Professionals. For "deep tissue" work, I utilize the skills learned in myofascial work, trigger point therapy, and Craniosacral therapy from the Upledger Institute. Massage therapy has been used for thousands of years around the planet to assist and maintain the body's healing process, and in more recent times it's affects have been studied and tested more widely and accurately. It is one of the top choices for complimentary health care and for a lifestyle of personal wellness, and I'm very fortunate to have been able to study and practice the methods that allow me to bring this healing service to the public.

Q: If I'm REALLY sore from the thing I just did, should I get a massage?

A: Yes, we've seen massage therapy be great for that! :-)

It truly has been well recieved in support of restoring healthy circulation and in decreasing irritation to nerves due to the natural inflammatory process that occurs with stress and strain.

Remember the 5 week, 45 min session plan. Great for getting back into outdoor action! 🪁

Question: how often should people get a massage?

Answer: lots of factors influence that decision, and the original determination (an educated guess) should change based on progress. The progress is heavily dependant on the assessment and practical application skills of the therapist, and also on the participation of the person themselves outside of the provider's care, and on their desire and efforts to become aware of and in-tune with their body.
There can also be factors, unknowable within the massage setting that would contribite to how often a person should recieve massage.
