Preach!!!

This post was inspired by a comment from a parent. Someone told them their brain "didn't make enough dopamine."

They were told they needed to play video games alongside their kids to fix the problem...

The problem? That isn't how brains work.

Our brains produce dopamine in relation to 3 things.

1.) The clarity of our goals. Dopamine is related to forward movement towards a clear goal. When goal clarity is nonexistent, compulsion towards pleasure or distraction becomes the destination for dopamine distribution.

2.) The amount of exercise we get on a regular basis. Exercise not only increases dopamine levels, it increases the number of dopamine receptors in our brain. It's how we build the architecture for increased motivation🧠💪

3.) Dopamine sensitivity is reduced through nonstop digital stimulation. From things like video games...

The cheat code for focus works the same way.

Norepinephrine is released in relation to how much we move our bodies.

Exercise is the foundation for laser focus.

Mood?

Serotonin regulates emotional stability, calmness, and resilience. Exercise boosts serotonin by increasing tryptophan transport into the brain, activating serotonin neurons, enhancing BDNF, and lowering stress hormones.

Exercise is the foundation for brain health. Brain health is the foundation for psychological strength, adaptability, and resilience.

This September millions of kids are marching back into the classroom to sit still and learn about everything other than themselves.

It's time to tip the chairs, flip the script, and teach the next generation about their physiology, first🧠🔥

🌎 We're looking for 5 more leaders to teach the next generation about their physiology first this Fall! Level One Certification begins September 13th. 5 spots left. DM to RSVP!

Steve Horney graduated from Quinnipiac University's top-ranked accelerated Masters program and began his clinical practice in 2006 and then continued his education by completing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy with a focus in Exercise Science from NYU. For the last 19+ years, he’s prided himself on combining extensive physical therapy knowledge with his own experiences as an athlete to effectively treat his patients.

Steve has been seen on CBS Newspath and is a frequent podcast guest as well as health & wellness interviewee. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of athletes with the ultimate goal of helping them become pain free and less susceptible to injury in the future along with improving performance. He works with each of his patients one-on-one to help them understand the root cause of their pain.

In his professional life, Steve worked with some of the top physical therapists in the city and managed one of New York's premiere physical therapy clinics before starting iPT. He has also completed his Manual Therapy Certification, a 2 year matriculating program from the University of St. Augustine, studying Manual Therapy with world-renowned Stanley Paris PT PhD to develop his healing hands.

In order to help the athletic population perform better, Steve became a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) from National Strength & Conditioning Association specializing in exercise physiology for athletes in high school to professional level and followed that up by completing his Hardstyle Kettlebell Certification.

He is a guest lecturer in NYU's Physical Therapy department department where he gives his (semi)famous "Bridging the Gap: Pain to Performance" lecture each year.

Here's an idea...
~
Let's solve this problem, together.
~
The finger pointing, shaming, and hostility towards people struggling with their health at the intersection of unprecedented abundance and prehistoric physiology is accelerating, rather than preventing, the spread of a health epidemic, disproportionately impacting the next generation.
~
First - Every health entrepreneur should be 100% dedicated to solving the health crisis. Not to their YouTube followers, podcast ratings, or IG accounts. Focused, boots on the ground, aggressive entrepreneurship creating health education and infrastructure in communities around the globe🧠🔥
~
Second: Health and fitness services have to be free for kids whenever possible. We run a great business and make a ton of money, without looking at the kids in our community as credit cards. They are community members, and 14 year olds don't often have the extra cash for coaching, personalized nutrition programs, and proactive health optimization. We've made our youth programs free for over 5 years and the return on investment is a community of healthy, fit, motivated young people ready to kick some ass and rock the world. Strong businesses create strong communities.
~
Third: The health and wellness world has an opportunity to level up and become the new face of data-driven, proactive, professional health optimization, or to play in a sandbox where aesthetics, athletics, and influencer status take precedence over impacting the brain and body health of millions of people hungry for guidance, support, and health assessments that are not subjective, guru centric, or random AF. The future of health is data-driven.
~
🌎🧠🔥We are training the next generation of leaders to bring the future of data-based health optimization to their communities. DM to join our Spring 2025 Certification Program and get trained to lead the evolution of health in your community!
~
This crisis in health will continue to accelerate until we make health care something you "do" as opposed to something you wait to get. It's time to make a dent in one of the greatest problems of our time by teaching kids and families about their physiology, first.
