Single mom. Full-time job. Homeowner.

And somehow still up past midnight trying to figure out Highmark’s billing portal for those Little Voices!

I should be exhausted, but weirdly… I love it.

Call it caffeine, call it chaos, or call it building a dream, either way, I’m all in. 💻💪🏼

Hi everyone! 👋
I know I’ve been a little quiet on here lately — my daughter and I just moved into a new home, and it’s been a busy season of change and behind-the-scenes work!

I’m excited to share that I’m now officially credentialed with Highmark for speech therapy services! 🙌 If you had previously reached out or expressed interest in using Highmark insurance, I’ll be contacting you soon.

In the meantime, if you’re still interested (or weren’t sure before but are now), please send me an email at info@littlevoiceserie.com or fill out the “New Client Form” on our website. Just note in the message that you’d like to use Highmark, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated as I work through next steps.

Because of the growing need, I’ll also be leasing an office space to better serve our clients — so thank you all for your patience as I get everything in place!

I can’t wait to continue supporting your little ones. 💬💛

Tip Tuesday!

Want to support your child’s language development during everyday routines? Try narrating out loud! Here’s how it works for different ages:

For Younger Kids (Toddlers & Preschoolers):

Narrate using short, simple phrases with repetition and fun intonation:
“Socks on! One sock… two socks! All done!”
This builds vocabulary and helps them learn how words connect to actions.

For Older Kids (5+):

Model more complex language and problem solving:
“Hmm… I need to find the measuring cup. Let’s check the drawer. Nope—not there. What should I try next?”
This supports critical thinking, sequencing, and expressive language.

Language happens everywhere—make the most of the little moments!

Articulation Box Must-Haves for Speech Sound Success!

If you’re working on speech sounds with your little ones, having a hands-on “Articulation Box” can make all the difference! These tools help kids see, feel, and hear how sounds are made—making therapy sessions fun, interactive, and effective.

Here’s what I keep in mine:
• Mouth model – to show where the tongue and lips should go
• Dental floss – great for tongue placement
• Tongue depressors – to gently guide or point to oral structures
• Mini flashlight – to light up those little mouths and show correct placement
• Play-Doh – to model tongues, lips, and teeth
• Mirror – so kids can watch themselves and copy movements
• Auditory feedback phone – so children can hear their own speech clearly and monitor their sounds (this one is always a favorite!)
• Stickers or small rewards – because motivation matters!

It’s a game-changer for practicing tricky sounds like /r/, /s/, and /l/

Milestone Monday!

Did you know the /R/ sound is one of the last speech sounds to develop — often not mastered until age 6 or 7?

If your child is saying “wabbit” instead of “rabbit” or “cah” instead of “car,” that’s totally normal… for a while!

But if it sticks around past age 6, speech therapy can help shape that tricky tongue movement and build confidence.

Early help = strong communication—- let’s chat if you have questions!

Happy April Fools, wish I could do this 🤣

We’re now offering speech therapy for cats and dogs — finally, your pet can learn to say “I wuv you,” “more treats, please,” and “I didn’t eat your shoe.”

Spots are filling fast — because apparently, animals have a lot to say. 😉

🗣️👂Yesterday, I had an engaging speech therapy session with a delightful three-year-old focusing on front sounds. We began with a “pull the string” activity to encourage and review our ‘P’ sound. As he stepped back, I prompted him to say /p/ while I said “pull,” gradually giving him more string until he was across the house. 🧶

This little guy substitutes ‘G’ for ‘P’ and ‘B’ sounds. So /pull/ becomes /gull/. This is an atypical speech pattern that some kids make.

We explored words like “open” for birdhouses, emphasizing the syllable “op.” Using finger puppets, we practiced “push” to place the birds on our fingers and “pull” to remove them. To create a bird nest, we ripped paper “rip” and then “put” the pieces in place. Additionally, we practiced prepositions like “in” and “under” by hiding the birds accordingly all in a 30 minute session! 🐦
