Erie Wellness Truth: Chiropractic care for kids doesn’t look like what you think.

A lot of people assume adjustments for kids involve the same cracking and popping we think of for adults…
But in this conversation, we talked about how gentle it actually is—often just light pressure points.

Such a helpful reminder that care is always adapted to the individual.

Erie Wellness Truth: Your life is bigger than dieting.

This part of the conversation with Becca really made me pause.

She asks people to imagine their 80th birthday.

Will your friends and family be talking about how good you were at dieting…
or will they be celebrating the life you lived, the relationships you built, and the experiences you shared?

It’s such a good reminder that our lives are meant to be about more than food rules and restriction.

You know that moment when you go for a walk instead of scrolling… and then you look up and see the Rockies and think,
“Okay yeah… I needed this.”

Your future self will always be glad you did.

Erie Wellness Truth: Don’t just survive—start thriving.

So often, we focus on just getting through the day—
managing stress, staying on track, trying to do everything “right.”

But what if the goal wasn’t just to feel okay…
but to actually feel strong, capable, and energized in your everyday life?

This conversation with Becca is a refreshing take on breaking the binge–burn cycle and building a healthier, more sustainable relationship with food and movement.

Monday Reminder 👇🏼
Wellness doesn’t have to cost a thing.

Sometimes it looks like a walk around Thomas Reservoir, a quiet moment at the library, or simply taking a deep breath and slowing down at a park bench.

This week, choose one small thing from this list and make it yours. Simple habits, done consistently, can change how you feel in a big way.

What would you add to this list?

Erie Wellness Truth: What looks like “big emotions” might actually be unmasking.

For many neurodivergent individuals, the day is spent trying to “fit” into a world that doesn’t always fit them…
And when they finally get home—where it feels safe—that’s when everything comes out.

It changes how you see those after-school meltdowns or end-of-day overwhelm.

Not as “bad behavior”… but as a nervous system that’s been holding it together all day.

Erie Wellness Truth: A good coach helps you not need them anymore.

I think a lot of us assume support means having someone there long-term…but the real goal is building the confidence and tools to walk on your own.

That idea of self-efficacy changes everything.

Neurodiversity is the understanding that differences in brain functioning are natural, normal, and needed variations rather than deficits.

This was one of those moments in the conversation with .counseling.of.erie that really made me pause.

Current research is pointing to a strong genetic component when it comes to neurodivergence—somewhere in the 80–90% range. That really shifts how we think about it.

There’s still so much we’re learning, but conversations like this feel important—because they help us better understand ourselves, our kids, and each other.

There’s something special about having a space that’s just for you—where you can slow down, reflect, and be met without judgment.

That’s what therapy can be.

In this conversation with .counseling.of.erie, we talk about making support feel more approachable, more normal, and more woven into everyday life—not just something you turn to in a crisis.

Our community has been shaken this week—and at the same time, we’ve seen the heart of Erie show up in such a powerful way.

I just wanted to remind everyone that the Erie Wellness Podcast is here as a resource for our community—especially during times like this.

We’ve had some incredible local mental health professionals share their insight and support so far this year:

Episode 40: Understanding Overwhelm and Healing After Trauma with Watershed Counseling

Episode 42: How to Treat Mental Health Like Physical Health with Solace Counseling (Pt. 1)

Featuring Amanda Wurst & Tabitha Steiner from Solace Counseling and Lisa Nelson from Watershed Counseling—women who care deeply about supporting our community.

If you or someone you know could use a little extra support right now, these conversations are here for you. 🤍

What if you prioritized your mental health like your physical health?

We don’t ignore a broken bone.
We don’t “push through” the flu.

So why do we push through overwhelm?

What if you prioritized your mental health the way you prioritize your physical health?

Mental health is health.
