Sometimes God calls us beyond what feels familiar… and into something far greater.
For Chloe Baggett, a doctoral student in Occupational Therapy at Methodist University, stepping onto a plane for the very first time meant stepping fully into faith. What began with uncertainty became a powerful reminder: when we say “yes,” God meets us there.
“Mission trips tend to push you out of your comfort zone physically and spiritually. I’ve done mission trips within the U.S. but traveling to Yucatán was my first time traveling out of the country (and my first time on a plane). This trip pushed me out of comfort zone big time and made me realize how much I needed to lean into my faith and trust that God is working through me even if I don’t see it. Mission trips give us the opportunity to serve people just like Jesus. To be able to take care of individuals, meet them where they are at, and show them a different love is so special and truly a privilege!
[If you’re hesitant to go] I would say just do it. If I’m being honest I was unsure about going to Yucatán at first. I prayed on it for a while and when the Lord kept giving me little signs, I knew I needed to go. I had no clue what I was going to do there or how I was going to share the gospel. I remember praying before I left and when we landed “Lord I’m not sure why you have me here but just use me for your good” and he did just that. This was an experience of a life time and I highly recommend anyone going on a mission trip if the opportunity arises. This trip is something I will hold in my heart forever! “
If you’ve ever felt the nudge, consider this your encouragement: pray, listen, and take that step. You may not have all the answers—but God will meet you in the obedience.
We’re so grateful for hearts like Chloe’s, willing to go, serve, and trust. 💛
